The Tenth Doctor is hunting shape-shifting Zygons in Elizabethan England. The Eleventh is investigating a rift in space-time in the present day. And one other - the man they used to be but never speak of - is fighting the Daleks in the darkest days of the Time War. Gripping from start to finish
I can't really decide whether this is brilliantly written or brilliantly read. It's probably a bit of both, but I didn't analyse it a whole lot while I was listening to it because I was too busy being thoroughly entertained. I was a big fan of David Tennant as the Doctor, and listening to this audiobook was almost as if he had returned to the role. I have listened to David Tennant reading Doctor Who stories and, unsurprisingly, they are wonderful entertainment, but this runs a very, very close second to those. Bravo. I'll be scouring Audible for more like this.

Simply brilliant
I have been reading Dr Who Audio books for 15 years and this is possibly the best. Nicholas Briggs is on of the best narrators of audio boos and his knowledge of the Doctor means that he understands the character at the deepest level. It has pace and lacks desire to overcomplicate which can sometimes bog down modern Doctor Who books.

The Daleks are scary again.
A well written Dalek story, which has been a rare commodity in Doctor Who for a while. The story is dark and genuinely interesting, something we'll deserving of actually being in the show itself. Also Nicholas Briggs does a good job in delivering the story in an impassioned manner, even if some lines occasionally fall flat.

Good story, Superb narration
Downloaded quite a lot of these for my kids as they love Dr Who. Will usually give it a listen for an hour to see if it's suitable as some can be scary and they are young (6 and 8). Wasn't really particulary interested in them myself but this one was different. Sounds weird but it's like the narrator was actually there. It's not like he's just narrating a story, it's like he's reading from his diary or something. Very effective. Quite a dark story, but gripping. I loved it and I'm 40.

Daleks!
The Daleks always make a good Doctor Who story. It's hard to screw up the Daleks. And when you've got the actual voice of the Daleks doing the reading, it's even better. I could care less what the story was actually about just because Nick Briggs was reading it.
The story was good, though, I feel like the Daleks have lost a bit of their high-end enemy status with a few of the latest episodes. Prisoner of the Daleks brings back all of the horror, viciousness, and brutality that the Doctor's oldest enemy should have. Very well done.

Memorable.
The Daleks are scary again and the characters are well-developed in this fast-paced thriller. Nicholas Briggs has a real handle on the atmosphere and timing. Has enough twists to keep the story unpredictable, but not so many that it seems contrived. Perfect blend of classic era storytelling and "Nu Who" excitement. The Doctor is in top form. This is one of those audiobooks that you might end up listening to more than once.

Tired of the sunny disposition of th Walking Dead?
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Anyone who enjoyed The Day After or otherwise needs some additional motivation to leap off a building.
What was most disappointing about Trevor Baxendale’s story?
75% of this book is an elongated dissertation of torture, humiliation and needless violence, contributing little or nothing to the story arc itself. The first and last parts of the story would have been a good story alone. One can only assume an editor talked a writer into expanding a short story into a novel. A writer with no sense of humor and a penchant for poking puppies and kittens with a stick.
Any additional comments?
For me, the Doctor represents the best combination of intelligence, wit and compassion. This novel references none of those admirable qualities.

Oh, Come now!
Would you consider the audio edition of Doctor Who: Prisoner of the Daleks to be better than the print version?
All you Time Lords looking to expand on the Daleks, might want to check this out. The reviews were good so I took this on, and was quite pleased. It is a bit muckity muck starting but the second half of the book flies. The Doctor's beliefs are very torn in his actions and you see a deeper side of him through this. No spoilers here, mates, you should check it for yourself. I gave the performance five stars because he does have the doctor spot on. Well played my friend, well played indeed...
