More brilliantly incisive insights
Tim Marshall writes wonderfully about the political and social world we live in, providing many lightbulb moments. This book perhaps less than his superb 'Prisoners of Geography ', but still an important read.

Them and Us in bricks and mortar
An interesting expose on the ubiquitous them and us paradigm. Always interesting and entertaining an easy and enjoyable read.You can not but feel better informed as to the many divisions that shape the way we live and share this small little planet of ours. Many answers to “Why is that there”. Covers many times and places, so a lot for everyone from anywhere

loved it!
I had read/listened to Prisoners of Geography, and liked it very much.
This book is even better.
I especially liked the author's view on Brexit.
The narrator is brilliant and gives you the feeling he is sharing (almost whispering) a secret on the real reasons the world is as it is today. The emotion he conveyed while describing the fall of the Berlin Wall was lovely and took me right back to that day. It felt like Tim Marshall was telling me his views in person.
I highly recommend this book.

Educational
This is the second book by Tim Marshall that I have listened and I found them very interesting and educational, eye opener and very important when one wants to understand the turmoils of this world.

Interesting book but marred by performance
The content of the book is very interesting and provides some additional context to the various walls and barriers around the world and the ideology behind them.
I don't often write reviews but I am in this case because of Ric's performance. His normal reading tone is fine and actually quite enjoyable as a knowledgeable voice but the accents he puts on are so jarring as to put me off finishing the book. It's like nails on a chalkboard and part of me wonders if it was an attempt to show his range as a voice actor or maybe he was asked to do the accents. Either way, it detracts massively from the book and is just cringe worthy. Big shame really.

This helps the pennies drop
Tim Marshall, like his TV punditry insights, delights in serving up steps beyond the platform of knowledge and logic to provide an overview which allows a panoramic view and a greater appreciation of the history we live in and are too close to fully dissect.
Reminiscent of his book Prisoners of geography.
Recommended but demands concentration.

Brilliant and Thought Provoking
I wished that Prisoners of Geography had been written years ago so that I could have been better informed about the World. Divided has built on that platform brilliantly using examples of walls and conflicts between countries and people’s, drawing out the lessons, being even handed and coming up with a thoughtful and workable conclusion that everyone should be given the privilege to ponder. I will re-read it to make sure I have it all at my finger tips for the future. Thoroughly recommend the book!

Very interesting
I enjoyed this book. The Narrator kept it interesting and the text itself is very well written. I think the weak point for me (the reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars) was its weak treatment of the fissures in the U.K.
Apart from that a highly recommended audiobook

Brilliant
Second of Tom Marshalls books I've listened to and both fab. Objective informative does a great job of explaining and summing up issues and setting them against a backdrop of relevant historical references. Highly recommended.
