Summary

Kara Harbinger’s only crime is having a court judge for a father, one who just happens to be presiding over the criminal case of the president of the Devil Kings MC. The DKs are about to use the biggest Achilles’ heel he’s got to bend him to their will, to buy his decision, to buy his very soul.

Reno: I want nothing to do with this job, but I can’t get out of it. As a member of the Devil Kings MC, my life is a violent existence hinged on loyalty to the oath I took: Devil Kings before all else. I’m the club’s muscle, the brother they give the vicious, vile jobs, the dirty deeds. When it comes to my club, I do whatever they ask, whatever they need.

Then I see Kara, all sweet and innocent with her soulful eyes and sexy body. She’s a bright light in my dark existence. In her eyes, I see an escape from the brutal life I’ve lived for so long, a life void of feelings, emotions, and light. She gives me the faith to believe I can have more, to believe I can have everything.

What do I do when my VP wants her taken as leverage to use against her father? What do I do when one look at Kara threatens everything I thought I held dear? What do I do if they want me to put a gun to her head and end her life? I’ll have to convince her to trust me if I have any hope of getting us both out of this alive.

Kara: He’s the only one who can save me. I’m not supposed to want a man like Reno. He’s dangerous - a lawless, badass, alpha biker. I know I should be afraid, but the way he looks at me, with hunger in his eyes makes me want to become his.

I believed the lies he told me. I thought he was a good guy. But when he takes me hostage, everything I thought about him is turned on its head. Now he expects me to trust him, even as he holds me captive. How can I trust a man whose loyalty is to his club, a club that wants me dead?

Dirty Deeds Indeed

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

Reno definitely had some ground to make up after his feature in Shades’ book and I was glad to see that he had his redeeming qualities. I enjoyed how he and his BFF Rusty stood out from the rest of their club who are definitely a rougher crowd than the Evil Dead.

Kara was a nice catalyst to shake up Reno’s life and the internal conflict was just as powerful as its external counterparts. She could be frustrating at times which gives her more dimension with which to work with.

Ryan West and Virginia Rose did a great job with their roles and their tone, inflections, pitch, and speed really remained consistently good throughout the book.

A good start to the series.

Not a big MC reader, but this series pulled me in!

My top thoughts:
I haven’t read many motorcycle club books, but this one sounded interesting so I went for it and enjoyed it for the most part.

What I liked/disliked about it:
I liked the characters. Reno (who’s first name is Dante, like my son which threw me for a minute) is better than the person his MC has cast him as and I feel like the book was about him growing into that person/recognizing his potential. Kara sees that person and instantly falls for him, only to be betrayed and question if she saw the real Reno. I enjoyed the hot and steamy of their relationship along with the conflict and watching them grow together.

The plot was a little iffy for me. On one hand, it didn’t feel exactly like Stockholm Syndrome since Reno and Kara formed a connection before the kidnapping. But the way things play out and wrap up did require suspension of belief, just a little. It’s a contemporary romance and you know you’ve gotta get your HEA, right? Even when it’s a little less than plausible?

Narrator thoughts:
The narration was fantastic. It was two narrators – Ryan West and Virginia Rose. This was my favorite style of dual narration where Virginia did all the female voices, even in the chapters where Reno/Ryan was the main voice and vice versa. Both are new-to-me narrators, although I could have sworn I knew Virginia Rose’s voice. Perhaps she goes by another name? But anyway, definitely recommend this narration pair.

Dirty Deeds

Oh how I love me some MC books and to find a new series is awesome! These characters are so full of life and the story kept me entertained the whole time. Who doesn’t love a kidnapping to love story? The narration was done very well and helped bring this book to life even more.

Loved Reno and Cara

I had already read the book but it had been awhile. I really enjoyed listening to this, the voices of bith Reno and Cara were good. Sometimes I struggle with audiobooks because of the narrators but did nit had that problem with this one. There is alot of action, drama, and steam in Reno and Cara's story and I liked the interactions with other club members plus the Evil Dead MC.

Intense, Suspenseful, and Entertaining!

This is the first book in the Devils Kings MC Series. Reno and Kara's story is intense, entertaining, suspenseful, filled with danger and twists and turns. They share an instant attraction, and a sizzling hot chemistry. The supporting characters are amazing. Ryan West and Virginia Rose did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Dirty Deals, Rusty's story.

Excellent!

it had been a while since I'd picked up a Nicole James book. Now I remember why I love her work! Mesh that with the amazing narration of Ryan West, and new to me Virginia Rose, and what a win win!!! Also fun to have some previous book characters from Evil Dead MC and can't get much better! I can't wait to read the next one now!!!❤

great intro to new MC Series

My first time listening to Nicole James book, performed by Ryan West and Virginia Rose.
This is book one in the Devil Kings MC series and it set the stage for the series!

Reno is ruthless, the muscle in the MC, but once upon a time he wanted more for himself.
Kara is the daughter of a judge presiding over a murder case who's caught up and in over her head. I really didn't connect with her character and her woe is me attitude. To be fair she is college freshman aged and extremely naive. but of course that is what draws Reno in. Kara is his redemption and his second chance which is her saving grace for me!
I did get sucked in right away to this book and want to see where it's going and how it plays out with next book.
This is a standalone and can be read as one, but I need the next book!!

I liked it

It was not dark and trashy like some MC books. It had its thrill but the big alphas are really sweet.

🌻tough to get through 🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I picked this because Ryan West was the narrator and because of the cover
Eye candy. Ryan west was great, the book was not!

The Heroine was ridiculously immature and absolutely too stupid to live. Yeah, she’s only 19 but she acted 15.

The plot was blah and it seriously lacked
