Summary
When the cards are stacked against you, the Kings will even the odds.
For Ward “King” Kingston the role of protector, forged by fire and tragedy, is one he takes seriously. When King is asked to safeguard the son of a four-star general and friend, he is pulled back into the world of government black ops on a mission that raises painful memories from his past. The moment King meets Leo, amid the chaos of a lockdown at a secret black site, it’s clear he’s never faced a challenge like this - one that will test his unwavering sense of control.
Leopold de Loughrey is a misunderstood genius whose anxiety and insecurities are sent into overdrive when he is forcefully recruited to work on a top-secret project. Terrified of what his role as "invaluable asset" means, Leo’s stress leads to disappearances, arguments, and blowups that threaten the project and Leo’s future. King’s arrival is a calm in the storm for Leo and his frenetic thoughts.
King and Leo couldn’t be more different, yet as they navigate the dangers of a secret multi-agency operation and face unknown threats, their differences could be what saves them. Neither man believes a happily ever after is in the cards, but their hearts might just prove them wrong...if they can survive a deadly betrayal.

O.M.G. King and Leo are FANTASTIC!!
I can’t praise this book enough!!! We finally get to learn all about King and get to know all that is under that gruff exterior! Now Leo…My new favorite book character ever!!! Leo is wicked smart, unknowingly sassy, adorkably sweet and just plain loveable. I love his brain, it that weird LOL. His quirks, sass, and smarts make for an incredible and hilarious read. I will admit to laughing out loud, in public!
King’s surprising connection to Leo is so heartwarming (and somewhat deeper and more unique than originally thought) and we are able to learn more about what all the Kings went through and even a little of why. This is a fantastic ‘conclusion’ to the quartet. Charlie definitely saved the best for last!
This book is the funniest of the lot and has all your favorite characters and couples I just loved the way everyone accepted Leo into the family. He is just so wonderful and I loved that he was never scared of King and really kept King on his toes. The story includes the same awesome action and thrill you come to expect of Ms. Cochet and I loved King’s fierce protectiveness out there on full display.
If you haven’t read this series YOU NEED TOO. I can’t recommend them all enough but King and Leo are definitely my new favs!!!
Thanks for reading!

I started out of order but it doesn't matter
Yes I started with book 4. Did it impact on my reading experience? I don't think so. The writing is solid and I didn't feel lost at any point.
I loved this book. Leo and King were adorable together, the UST was off the charts and when they finally came togethe, wow.
Leo's awkwardness, rambling and fast moving thoughts could have been a disaster but in the hands of Cochet made for a cute character. And King was just, yeah, just yum.
Excellent narration.
Can't wait too go back and read the rest of the series.

Great end to the series
What a fitting end to the Four Kings series! Kingston got his HEA with loveable Leo 🤗 For being a geek, Leo really gave King a run for his money!
I enjoyed the story, the little twist at the end and of course, seeing the other guys again, especially Ace! Looking forward to reading the spinoff stories 🤗
As always, Mr. Boudreaux does a wonderful job with King's story. He is such a pleasure to listen to. I love when he voices both MC's inner thoughts - he expresses how the character is feeling so well!
This (and all his perfomances really) is a great way to the story (and series)!

Slow burner.
It took me a while to get into this book. But i persevered and quirte enjoyed the slow burn of events.
Leo was a joy to listen to, although he has issues, he's a hoot. Ace's one liners made me laugh in places.
I sort of had an idea who was behind it but the red herrings made it so that it came as a bit of a surprise. Overall I enjoyed it.

Ward Finally Finds His Match, Boudreaux is Great!
I've enjoyed each of the books in Charlie Cochet's Four Kings Security series, but I'll admit, I've been looking forward to getting King's story more than any of the others. I didn't even read the blurb or any reviews first so as not to spoil the surprise ;)
Diamond in the Rough is everything I'd hoped for, in just the way I know Charlie Cochet is going to do it! To see Ward open up like this is *gah* so satisfying. That delicious teddy bear we all knew would be lurking underneath that bear of a guy... it was wonderful.
Leo is completely adorable and the perfect fit for King. Polar opposites, these two are just what the other needs. Plus the delicious age gap that Ms. Cochet takes every advantage of (it's fantastic when Leo teases King about his stamina *heh heh*).
For any fans of this series who haven't tried the audio versions, I urge you to pick one up immediately. Greg Boudreaux's skills are the perfect fit for the characters in this series and it's easy to see he's having a wonderful time with his performances. Between his marvelous accents, the cheeky camaraderie and powerful bonds between these men, and the fantabulous love scenes, Mr. Boudreaux outdoes himself!

Complex characters; wonderful, warm romance,
I loved this audiobook! This was my first in the series, although I have now got the rest of the series lined up to listen to:) This one totally works as a stand-alone, and gives you plenty of background for the characters. I loved the spotlight on Leo and how being a genius set him apart from other people. due to their hang-ups, not his. I loved how generous and caring King was, and also how he took charge and kicked A** when needed. I loved the way everything just rolled off his back. He had a job and he did it! I loved the loyalty and brotherhood and how the guys all looked out for each other.
The narration was great. The guys all have distinct voices and personalities. The tone and pacing were perfect.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the author and have voluntarily left this honest review.

Nice end to this new series...
***Audio Review**
Usual Mr Tremblay...oops sorry, Boudreaux quality. There were a few errors, but what can I say?? With the right material, he's just so much better than anyone else...☺☺☺
***Book Review***
4.25 stars. The only reason I've not given it 5 stars is the fact that the 'traitor' was quite well telegraphed and couldn't really have been anyone else.
Ward and Leo were so well suited, Leo being the archetypal computer geek...extremely intelligent but pretty awkward socially and Ward?? Well, he wants to control every little thing he can but he can only do so much - his chosen family i.e. the Kings Security guys are everything to him, and he will do all he possibly can to keep them safe and together. Leo totally catches him by surprise, and to watch him floundering is really sweet. He falls in love with the younger man fairly quickly...he can't quite believe it himself.
A good finish to this new series from Charlie.

Absolutely fantastic, I think favourite of series
Finally we get King's story and to meet his perfect match in Leo. A young man that all the guys from Four Kings know of but King gets to meet the man and be the one to take care of his safety as Leo works on a secret project.
As we knew he would be, King is a wonderful man to read/listen and I'm so happy to read his story. Charlie has given us amazing characters the whole way through this series and Leo is in a group all of his own for quirkyness and such an individual. Needs a little extra care but his mind truly makes up for it. We still get interaction with all our series favourites with fun, love and support throughout from all of the brothers and their men.
Greg has been absolutely amazing throughout the whole series. It felt like I was right there with the characters as I listened to the story and got involved with the plot and evolving relationship between the MC's. He portrays each individual with their own personality and feelings. Easy to identify which character we're listening to and when they're thinking or talking.
Cannot recommend enough, definitely being added to my list of relisten books

Another brilliant novel
Charlie has done it again. The enigmatic Ward Kingston finally meets a man who he can't resist. Leo. Computer geek, brilliant mind, socially awkward, yet he gets under King's skin and into his heart. A story chocked full of laughs, heartache, tension and love. A definite five stars.

Excellent
Saved the best for last. This book is absolutely brilliant, the relationship between King and Leo was amazing, I loved it. The narration by Grey Boudreaux was the absolute best, he really brought the story to life.
