Summary

Dragon shifter Prince Kyran has studied the Earth people and is ready to assimilate. Female shifters are all but going extinct on his planet of Qurilixen, and his people are desperate for mates - so much so they're taking matters into their own hands. What better place to capture a woman than Earth? After all, dragon shifters had come from there centuries ago. Surely a human female would be honored to be selected by one as fine and fierce as himself.

While on Earth, Kyran stumbles upon the most beautiful woman he's ever imagined, singing something the natives call rock 'n' roll. His blood simmers and he knows Eve is the one for him. But taming this feisty female is going to take much more than his training prepared him for.

Dragons Oh My

Eve is simply celebrating her birthday with her band/family when she spots Kyran. Well, she figures that she'll have a fun night with him. Right up until the next morning when Kyran explains that she's now his princess and they are on Qurillixen. What follows is as hilarious as it is hot. Looking forward to the next prince!

The narration is on the mark with all the different characters getting their own unique voice and keeping you invested in the story.

it was OK...

I found this audiobook at little hard to get into at first and had to stop listening to it half way through, but I'm glad I started it again as it did get better and I found myself enjoying it. The narrator did a excellent job with this one and its many different. I actually can't wait to listen to the second book in the series.

Great story

This was the very first book that I ever read by the author and to now be able to listen to it brought back so many memories as to why I enjoy this authors work.
Easy to listen to the book is written with a smooth pace, interesting characters and a richly described world. From this book I have found myself returning many times to the world that Michelle created to be delighted by the dragon and cat shifters that reside there.
It is not a long tale but well worth the read.

Dragon Shifter Meets His Match

Kyran, a dragon shifter who’s a bit over confident and full of himself (“I am a fierce dragon and will make a fine husband. A woman would be lucky to have me”), arrives on earth via a portal to find a bride. I laughed out loud when he, Finn, Ivar and Rafe turn up at the club Eve sings at, looking like rejects from the Village People! There’s instant attraction between Kyran and Eve. She flirts with him and he mistakes this for her agreeing to be his wife! So he carries a drunken Eve back through the portal to his world. This is a really light hearted read with Kyran misinterpreting Eve’s sarcastic remarks and actions. They are both stubborn and she’s also feisty, doesn’t like being constantly told she is his wife and a battle of wills ensues. Reminds me a little of the Taming of the Shrew. I listened to the audio whilst also following the ebook. So I had the best of both! It took me a while to get used to the narration of David Brenin as his voice sounded a little robotic at the beginning. I increased the speed of the audio which helped. It’s a short, entertaining story and I really liked Kyran and Eve. A good match. It will be fun to find out who’s next to find their mate!!!

Not a favorite..

I did laugh out loud a few times but overall this wasn’t a very good story and I probably won’t go forward with the series. I have read 7 or 8 of Ms. Pillow’s books and most I’ve enjoyed but this one, not so much. I really didn’t like the way Eve was described doing her singing act: the banging of her head or the screaming of the songs she was “singing.” And she was pretty rude and nasty to Kyran for most of the story, until she was suddenly in love with him.

I did really like Kyran, Finn, Ivar and Rafe. They were all pretty strangely dressed when the went to earth to look for a wife for Kyran. They did remind you of the Village People.

There was 1 explicit sex scene and the F-bomb was used 2 times.

As to the narration: David Brenin was OK for me. The women’s voices weren’t so great and there were several times someone in the book laughed and DB couldn’t be bothered. I’ve listened to about 4 other books that were narrated by DB, and there were 2 where I gave him 4 and 5 stars so I know he can be wonderful. Just not in this one.

Good

I wasn't sure about this audiobook. For me it was ok. I think the other stories this author writes is way better than this one.

Prince Kyran and Eve

This was a very enjoyable short story. Although Michelle Pillow writes wonderful stories, this heroine was quite annoying. Kyran was wonderfully patient. David Brenin, as always, was an outstanding narrator. He deserves 10 stars.

This, a so-so short love story, although different

I did like this, though, I found it hard to take due to the basic kidnapping part. I'm a writer myself. I just don't see how you intertwine love with being kidnapped and almost forced into it, even though it ended well with Eve realizing she couldn't picture life without him. I think it would've gone much better if he wooed her on Earth. it was clear early on they were soulmates! That is something that means a lot to me, for it took me from the age of 17 to 47 to find my true soulmate! I spent those 30 years in the Army, Special Forces and truly consider myself a selfless man. I fought off any kind of love because I was a combat operator in a Tier one UNIT, and if I perished in war, my career, I didn't want my better half to go through the pain of that loss. My true virtue is honor and I know what it's like to find the other half of your soul. Due to my living situation I despise kidnappings! I've been on a lot of SAR's [Search and Rescue] missions and not all of them ended well. I had to stop and process st different times through the story. It was a good concept but it went awry in the story development. Now, these are all my own opinions and my life story is a bit jaded. It was hilarious with Eve's Sassy attitude. No offense but I won't be reading anymore of this series. I always download Dragon Shifter stories. I was a bit offended when he kept saying his honor was intact, which was not so. To honor is to cherish, to love above all else, to put another person first at all costs to yourself, while not looking for any reparations or thank you's! To honor is to do a deed without even letting the other person do it. I understand this is a FICTION paranormal romance, but I didn't really see any paranormal to it. Thank you for the opportunity to read the other side of the coin, and teach me that not all writers run with the usual; fight evil, save the girl at cost to you or her, etc.

Dragons and a rock n roll princess

This book was enjoyable. It felt a bit under developed. i think that if it was longer and the minor characters were given more attention that this could have been a knock out!

didn't like this story

I rarely review stories but wanted to share that I really didn't like this story. From the way it's laid out to the way it was written was disjointed and written weird. I won't be buying the rest of the series.

The story was good just too short. I'll decide on if I want to buy the other books once I know how long they are.

Determined Prince and Just as Determined Rocker

Where does Determined Prince rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the top.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved EVE and Kyran as well.

What does David Brenin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good as reading or even better. His characters are defined and fun. As is the dialogue.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and did so.

Any additional comments?

Determined Prince: 5 star audio 6/1/16
UPDATE: JUNE 2016
I HAVE ADDED THE AUDIO TO MY LIBRARY: What a fun listen. I read this when it first came out and now have had time to forget some of the wonderful parts. Listening to the story and hearing some of the smart (or not) remarks by Eve and misinterpreted things by Kyran and the other Draigs, made me laugh out loud. I truly loved it even more than just reading the book.

Determined Prince is the delightful beginning of a new series. Five star. This is a prequel series, before dragon shifters and cat shifters changed from friends to enemies. Eve is singing in a band and allowing herself to drink this one day of the year—her birthday-- she meets dragon shifter Prince Kyran who has come for a bride. Rocker Eve thinks he's hot and talks funny, but with enough tequila she can ignore the conversation. Until she wakes up and she's not in “Kansas” anymore. Can a rocker from Cleveland become a princess? Can a staid Prince adapt to a feisty human female?
These are not the only problems. The stronger question is how do his people feel about such a match? Or are there enemies ready to do anything to prevent such a match?

I only have one problem with this book—WHERE IS THE NEXT ONE?

Determined Prince

Would you try another book from Michelle M. Pillow and/or David Brenin?

Yes.

The writing and narration were both good.

What does David Brenin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the characters to life.

Was Determined Prince worth the listening time?

Yes.

It was a short read. The concept was interesting.

I liked the beginning best of all. A prince from another realm coming to earth to find a mate.

The over self confidence, trying to blend in using knowledge gained from old books and tv shows that gave him the wrong impression on the woman he does finally find.

I liked Ev. She was a strong person who found herself in a strange situation. She kept her cool and didnt cower in front of Kyran.

Any additional comments?

A story with a strong heroine and a hero that learns his place. An enjoyable book.
