Overlong, Drawn out, boring
I really enjoyed the other books in this series, but this book really did fit the title. it defied logic . The actual plot for the missing persons was simple, flimsy, but the author drew out the investigation for far too long, giving us a crumb here and there when the culprit was obvious. Even the interactions between Valor and Doyle became repetitive and stale. I stuck it out to the end, but it was a struggle.

Totally invested in this story
Fun and emotional! I like that the book is about a case but the background story is about development of the characters. Both individually and as a couple!
Nick J Russo is doing an amazing job with the narration.

It just gets better and better!
I love the feeling of knowing before I've started the book that it's going to be amazing, and it's so rare, but not with this series. Every book has been captivating from start to finish, and this one was no exception. From the intriguing mystery, to the engaging interpersonal relationships, to the love and compassion between Valor and Doyle, it is the perfect continuation of the saga. Can't recommend it enough. Awesome narration from Nick J Russo is the icing on the cake of literary goodness!

Valor and Doyle - a fabulous relationship
The strength of Nicky James’ fabulous ongoing Canadian detective series is how cleverly she is developing the relationship between her MC’s. We love them, we want to believe they are living, breathing men, and we wait for the next instalment with bated breath.
Aslan Doyle is struggling with his mental health in Defying Logic but the sheer strength of his relationship with Quaid Valor is what’s carrying him through. The love between these two men is electrifying; the tables have turned and it’s Valor’s turn to be the strong one in their relationship and he delivers with aplomb.
But, even with his own not inconsiderable issues, Doyle has a few life lessons to teach his man. Valor isn’t coping well with his prickly new partner. He’s not a man who deals well with change and Doyle, observing his love’s dilemma, gently hands out a few pointers. It’s a measure of how far they’ve come in their relationship that Valor takes the constructive criticism on board and acts on it.
The plot is well thought out and unusual, but for me it’s the relationship development which steals the show, simply off the charts. And after ‘that’ ending I cannot wait!
Nick Russo delivers another stunning performance with a fair sized cast to contend with. Love, love this series.

Another exciting case to solve!
As always, Nicky James delivered an exciting and circuitous mystery to unravel, intriguing inter-department police drama, and satisfying evolution of Aslan and Quaid's romantic relationship. This time the detective ball was back in Quaid's court with not only a puzzling, science-oriented MPU case to solve but also a brand new partner to work with. I was really intrigued by the details of the case he and Jordyn were working on, and though it was painful to watch the two of them clash at every turn, I still got sucked into the suspense of it all. Quaid's struggle to accept change and befriend his new partner was humanizing, and though it was exasperating to see him and Jordyn interact in the beginning, by the end they were in sync and on much better terms. Aslan had his own world of recovery and trauma to deal with, and my heart broke for him multiple times as I lived in the aftermath with him. PTSD isn't something with a quick fix, and it took multiple weeks of healing and connecting with loved ones for Aslan to start to feel like himself again. As stressful as it was in the interim, it was also so sweet to see how deep and strong Quaid and Aslan's love remained no matter what. Their romantic relationship continued to soar to new heights, and even though I never had any doubts about the two of them sticking together, the progression of their partnership here made me even more sure. It doesn't hurt that I'm a sucker for cute, precious fur-babies, and Oscar was a little bundle of happiness that lifted everyone's spirits. With another case solved (and one that tricked me again, despite how smart I thought I was for figuring something out) and work situations sorted out, Quaid and Aslan's future feels more certain and hopeful than ever.

Perfect!
It’s a pleasure to listening Nick J. Russo bring to life Quaid and Aslan, I love this serie. Defying Logic is the aftermath of Aslan previous case and Quaid helping him cope with it, I love how these two are so in love with each other and they will do everything to help one and other. The end left my wanting more!!
