Summary

Meet Detective Inspector Dan Hellier, a man who needs to redeem his career and catch a killer.

Soon after DI Hellier returns home to Exeter under a cloud, the body of a talented young singer is found in the woods. When her death reveals links to the boss of a recording studio, a predatory gang and a school music teacher, Hellier knows he has his work cut out. Before more innocent people are put in danger, Hellier will need to untangle the web of lies and work out which of many suspects are guilty of murder.

PREDICTABLE PLOT, SIMPLISTIC PROSE, DULL NARRATION

Definitely not for me. With over 700 books in my audible library, this is one of the worst. I have laboured through it in the hopes I was mistaken, often feeling I should just abandon it, ask for a refund but trying to work out whether the monotone presentation was influencing my experience of negativity. Yes, it is easy listening as some reviewers described - if that deserves more than a couple of stars, excuse my verdict.

Awful reading. Impossible to stick with...

Like so many of my purchases I do read reviews and this book has a majority of 5 star reviews.

But for a quite patronising email from Audible drawing attention to me returning too many audiobooks I would have returned this one. They advised me to read reviews before I purchased!!!

Tell me if I’m being unfair but the reader sounds like a halfwit character doing an audition for Little Britain or an impression of Dave from The Royle Family. Hard to judge the story

I gladly stopped listening...
