About this listen

Richard Ainsworth's French B&B has been taken over by a production company shooting a historical film at the Château de Valençay. But everything grinds to a halt with the sudden passing of an actor under suspicious circumstances.

To get to the bottom of things, Valérie d'Orçay and Richard offer catering services to the hastily resumed production. There, they discover that the vanity, duplicity, and murder of an 18th-century French court is nothing compared to that of a 21st-century film set, with more heads yet to roll.

An entertaining listen.

Very enjoyable spending time with the characters from the valley again. Always makes me laugh. Love the different way the French and English look at life, at least from the characters portrayed in the book. Hope Richard, Valerie and the village characters will have further adventures.

Characters and humour

A refreshing view of a group of characters who whilst experiencing the 'ups and downs' in their own lives, come together via Richard and Valarie, solving a murder mystery. Told with humour

Wonderful characters

Thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have the others in this series.

Looking forward to their next adventure.

Read by the author, the humour and dead pan comments for Richard are perfect.

A true delight

I am so disappointed that there is not another book to read in this series. The characters are so well formed and their relationship feels genuine. The way in which Valerie has become part of Richards life has you on the edge of your seat for the next installment in their complex dynamic. Let alone all of the shenanigans in which they become embroiled.

Ian reads and writes so well, I really cannot wait to hear from the Valley again soon.

Keep it up

Another delightful tale, well-told

Thoroughly enjoyed this escapade! Familiar faces from the first two stories, along with the cast and crew involved in making the film. Plenty of confusion, entertainment, incidents, and Richard's film-geek knowledge is actually useful! Looking forward to listening to the fourth book in the series in the near future.
I honestly couldn't imagine anyone other than Ian Moore narrating these, and he does it so well.
