About this listen
When she finds herself between jobs and out of her rented accommodation, Clara Harrington decides to take a break and stay with her beloved, yet eccentric aunt in the sleepy village of Picklemarsh, England.
Vanessa Harrington is an award-winning crime novelist with an impressive back catalogue. When it comes to crime, and murder, there’s not a lot that Vanessa doesn’t know.
Clara’s hope for peace and quiet is shattered when, on her first night at Chadwick Lodge, the local town councillor is murdered, falling face down into his dessert.
Finding herself in the middle of one of her books, Vanessa happily takes on the task of uncovering the murderer and drags Clara along with her.
Join the Harringtons as they investigate the murder, question suspects, and uncover that not all is as it seems in picturesque Picklemarsh.
This cozy mystery is brought to you by Lambda-winning author A.E. Radley.

A Real Feel Good Investigation
If you are looking for a modern day Miss Marple this is the book for you.
Clara has gone to stay with her Aunt V who is a famous author who specialises in murder.
If she thinks it is going to be a quiet holiday she is suddenly pulled into a mirder investigation. A E Radley gets you guessing to the end and with her light humour throughout this book it gives you some escapism. Hopefully there will be a sequel.

A Sweet, adorable, witty and clever duo
The story had a good bit of everything you need in a murder mystery. The english countryside, check.
Someone dropping dead, check
A busybody senior with an eye for details, check
A lovable voice of reason to try to curtail the busybody, check
A disgruntled policeman who has to deal with said busybody, check.
Oh and plenty of suspects of course.
But really the story was a joy to read from start to finish, miss marple better be ware vanessa harrington is giving her some sassy competition.

Loved this narrator
Perfect relaxation listening. I haven’t finished it yet, but I wanted to add a note for those aurally sensitive souls like me who look for the fine balance of skills required for tip top audiobook narration/performance. Claire Storey certainly has this in spades in this audiobook, and I’m now going to see if it’s possible to search for books by narrator, as I hope she’s done others. I’ve never read any of the cosy crime genre before, but I loved this.

Great fun!
Loved this book! If you enjoy Agatha Raisin and Rebecca Tope then this will definitely be your sort of book. Great fun story with familiar characters brought to life beautifully by the reader, who manages to make everyone distinct and identifiable, and who has a lovely voice to listen to. I will be looking for more of these stories.
