About this listen
Have you ever wondered why you feel exhausted and frustrated when gathering with certain family members?
Often, we may encounter unpleasant relatives who drain our energy by bringing negativity and sabotage to our moments of joy, plans, or life perspective. But there is always a reason behind their attitudes, which we will dig into here. Plus, you will understand how these relatives affect your life.
As you go through this book, you will be able to wisely bring closure, not to those toxic relationships but to your frustration, and give yourself the space to love those family members from a fair distance without disrespect or harmful conflicts.
The purpose of this book is not to create more wounds, but to heal and close the open ones.
Also, you will learn how to create greater confidence, self-love, empathy, and resilience in a fundamental process to change your days for the better:
- Understand the six main reasons why people choose to stay in a toxic and abusive relationship.
- Find the principal causes of conscious and unconscious self-destruction triggered by toxic family members.
- 28 examples to help you discover how to recognize toxic behaviors and what exactly a toxic person is.
- Enhance your life perspective about your family relationship with the "five weeks method" exercise.
- Discover what to do if you can’t avoid their presence, and maintain your peace and confidence.
- Discover how to mindfully deal with it when you desperately need to cut off ties.
- Family gatherings: how to attend to them in peace of mind without getting emotionally drained or frustrated.

Practical crucial domestic advice
Coming from a very toxic family, this book really hits home. I have lived my adult life with scars of toxic home life growing up, and it has affected many aspects of it.
So much wonderful advice on how to heal from these scars as well as dealing with toxic family members you may still interact with.
It also gives certain points to watch out for in toxic people and how you need to guard yourself emotionally so you don't become drained by these people. I think coming from a toxic place creates an open door to attracting more toxic people into your life if you don't take the steps to deal with your past and recognize what that toxicity looks in your everyday life now.
This is a wealth of information for someone like me who has known something is was not right with my family but not knowing any other way. Thank you for this amazing resource!

Definitely a Title That Resonates With Me
I don't want to say which member of my family is toxic, but I have recently completely avoided one member because I'm certain that she looks for things to be negative and to argue. And whenever I have an exchange with her, I leave the conversation upset because of how she treats me. So, I messaged her recently telling her that I'm going to allow her to contact me when she's in a good mood because when she's not, her wrath affects me and makes me feel like crap. With her, I can never share an opinion that differs from hers because that will cause a huge blown out of proportion argument over differing opinions. OMG.
The chapter "to stay or leave" spoke to me personally, because the only time this person is toxic is one on one. She's embarrassed to do what she does in group settings or when my husband is present. Becoming emotionally detached is my goal now. I must mind my own mental health, and this chapter is my plan, and worth getting the book alone, much less the other helpful tips.

Practical and Direct
Who does not have to deal with toxic family members? Maybe only the Royals (LOL!). All sarcasm aside, this book is recommended to all adults with family members. I can’t stand several family members and so this book became very interesting to me. The examples to help you discover how to recognize toxic behaviors and what exactly what a toxic person is discussed in the book are priceless. This is actually a very serious subject and the book helps you work towards helping deal and heal from it all. Highly recommended!

Much needed help!
This book will save you. Family members can cause so much unneeded stress and drama in your life, and I loved the author's approach in this book. All the advice is grounded and realistic. My favorite part was the section on family gatherings and the "5-week method". I also enjoyed the narrator's voice and pacing - a joy to listen to.
