Summary
If you only listen to one book about a ghost detective solving crimes with his own zombified cadaver this year, make it this one.
Jake and Frank are two halves of the same soul: one a phantasm, the other a walking corpse. Jake is the light touch, while Frank is the sledgehammer. Together, they put the P.I. in R.I.P.
The Fletcher boys help restless spirits escape the earthly plane by bringing their killers to justice, but they’re not in it for the money. They do what they do to work off the sins of a misspent youth and buy their way into Heaven.
But for this case to pay out, they’re going to have to determine what the ghost of a murdered prostitute has to do with a clan of highly tenacious vampires, a supernaturally-enhanced assassin, and a street drug made of mashed-up fairy brains.
Oh, and they need to do all that before their phantom client loses her grip on reality and transforms into a wailing, horror movie banshee. Because if they don’t, the drawbridge to the promised land might just slam shut forever.
Mystery, the macabre, and caustic wit collide in this bizarre noir. Fans of Ben Aaronovitch, Mike Carey, and Benedict Jacka will love this exciting detective story with a paranormal twist.

“F**k you Thumbelina and the unicorn you rode in”
Loved the other books in the series so far and this didn’t disappoint either!
Doesn’t take itself too seriously and it had me laughing out loud at parts! I love the wit and one-liners and then add the great characters and fight scenes and it’s all just brilliant!
Great narration with character voices that really fit them and great pacing too!
Can’t wait for more as I was really disappointed when it came to an end.
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

A strong continuation to a great series.
I was provided a copy of this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
I like stories with interesting characters, ones with personality problems meaning that, while their intentions are generally good, their way of getting things done can be a little..messy.
It is for this reason that I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was so looking forward to this sequel, and boy was it worth the wait.
This time round were looking into the murder of a prostitute on behalf of the victim herself and soon Fletcher becomes embroiled in a sticky situation involving vampires, assassins and things even more weird.
As with all of David Bussell's books, the writing here is tight, fat-free and fast paced with action, mystery and a little bit of comedy, all brilliantly portrayed by the excellent vocal talents of Mark Restuccia.
A thoroughly enjoyable tale that both expands on the magical world alongside ours and sets the stage for more strange goings on as the series continues.

Great Story! Great Series!
I really enjoyed Fletcher & Fletcher and the mischief the Ghost Fletcher gets them into.
The Ghost Fletcher is really a sucker for women with a sob story, and though Burned several times before still believes this newest one!
I shake my head at the story and tell the book, "No! Don't fall for this again!"
Narrator does a Great job with this entire Series and Makes the story come to life.

Love This Series & The Uncanny Kingdom
Deadly Departed by David Bussell and M.V. Stott is Book 2 in the Fletcher & Fletcher, Paranormal Investigators series. As usual this is another fast paced, page turning thrill ride adventure that has it all -- beautifully written with marvelous characters, wonderfully detailed world, funny moments (you actually laugh out loud), suspense. Jake and Frank Fletcher are hired to find a murderer and while investigating they encounter Fae Unseelie Court royalty, bloodthirsty vampires, assassins, a demon, and a dragon. Love it when Jazz Hands is around. This is a not-put-downable read as well as a no-stop-listening-to story that I highly recommend. Mark Restuccia is an excellent narrator, easy to listen to, and brings the story to life.

Even better than the first book!
Just like the first one, this book was action-packed and fast-paced, with amazing characters and high, high stakes. What I love the most about this series is Jake's weird sense of humor and the hilarious way he tells his story. Highly recommended!

Started with this one, now need to hunt the rest.
I got this book as a free review copy because it sounded vaguely interesting. Once I started listening it grabbed me. I do not think its fair to compare it to other certain supernatural investigator novels, because it goes its own direction completely.
The book works well as a stand alone thing, as it gave enough information for me to not feel lost, but at the same time, has left me craving the rest of the books.
The mystery is well written, with enough 'twists' to keep things interesting without feeling like it was trying to be confusing, and was one of those books that actually gives you the clues along the way so if you so desire, you could form your own theory and possibly be right.

Great story!
I enjoyed Deadly Departed and the Fletchers fighting for what’s right in order to redeem himself into his afterlife. David Bussell and MV Stott’s story was very well written and engaging. There are a lot of interesting characters and the narrator Mark Restuccia voiced them uniquely. I highly recommend this book!

All is not as it seems
Fletcher's snark and attitude are everything!! It was a really heartfelt moment when Frank was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, but Jake's heart shone through and looked for another way out. I'm not a fan of zombies, but because of Frank I have a soft spot in my heart for him and can't look at them in the same way again. The laughs, mystery, and nonstop action are top notch. I love the way the author pulls his main character from the brink of disaster time and time again. Jake and Frank make an untouchable team along with their odd sidekicks. Another winner. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life.

Righting the Wrongs
Deady Departed is a phenomenally written book that was full of humor, Vergara vampires, Unseemly Fae Royal not to mention a ghost and a zombie. What could go wrong? Anything and everything. The comedic banter between the characters is a laugh a minute as they try to turn dark situations a little lighter. The storyline is absolutely amazing as Fletcher and Fletcher try to help a ghost solve her murder but find themselves twisting in the wind as things come forth. I loved the ending because you are able to see the growth that each character has made. This maybe my first David Bussell and M.V. Scott book but it will definitely not be my last. I highly recommend this book and series.
I was given a copy of this audiobook but that by no means has anything to do with this voluntary honest unbiased review.

Those fabulous Fletchers!
Jake and Frank Fletcher are back in another “unputdownable”, fast-paced, action-filled adventure filled with insanely wonderful characters and loads of laugh-out-loud moments. After being hired by a damsel-in-distress of the ghostly persuasion to track down her murderer, our paranormal investigators embark on a journey that sets them in the crosshairs of bloodthirsty vampires, royalty of the Fae Unseelie Court, tattooed assassins, an extra-dimensional demon, and a dragon. What could possibly go wrong? Don’t ask….just pick up a copy of this book/audiobook and settle in for a wildly entertaining ride. I chose to listen to the audiobook while reading along and it was a wonderful experience. I could listen to the narrator, Mark Restuccia, all day long. He always provides such an enjoyable experience with his accent, his inflections, his cadence, and the way he makes each character distinct from all the others. In truth, if you enjoy paranormal fantasy, you cannot go wrong with any of the Uncanny Kingdom series.
I was provided with an audio copy of this book and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
