Another excellent read

This is the third book in the series and it does not disappoint! The story is very good but the way TG Reid writes is excellent. Listening to the book I can so visualise the scenes that I feel I am actually there myself. The characters are so down to earth and real. The only thing that bugged me a bit was about the prisoner who was suffering from pancreatic cancer and that he deserved such a painful end.
Having seen my dear late father die from this cruel disease I would not wish it on anyone….
Once again a big Thank You to the narrator Steve Worsley for bringing the story to life with his excellent narration.
Looking forward to the next book.

A Cold Case

Set in the lovely Campsie area DCI Bone is still on sick leave with PTSD, when a killer serving time, literally, tells him of a cold case approx 40yrs old. and will Bone take a look? You bet.
In the past, I have put DCI Bone on the insanity list but he seems a lot calmer these days and perhaps has a different outlook on life.
Are there cover-ups in this saga? it seems that no one was ever prepared to take responsibility and blame for years until now. We have the usual bunch, and each with their own problems especially Mullen but now his father is in care he can perhaps move on and they all still come together as a team.
I have enjoyed all of the DCI Bone's books and have noticed with this one the bad language has been somewhat curbed at best.
Again the narrator Steve Worsley did an excellent job.

A 3rd great DCI Bone thriller

The 3rd time in the DCI Bone series and it didn't disappoint, another great fast paced thriller set in rural Scotland, following the rural crime unit. love the use of Scottish dialect, and really enjoying getting to know more about Bones team. DS Mullens cracks me up with his one liners!! Fab addition in this series which is a must read/listen for all police, crime thriller lovers

He said she said !

I am a fan of Steve’s narration and the storyline in this series of books is excellent. The only off putting thing is the constant “ He said She said” that really is not required as Steve’s inflection is so good. B

Well worth the wait

Having read books 1 & 2, I cpuldnt wait to start book 3! I have to say this is probBly my favourite so far in the series!

DCI Bone is on sick leave recuperating from his longstanding PTSD, when Walker brings him a mesaage. A terminally ill prison inmate wants to share details on a cold case but he will only speak to Bone.

Can Bone unearth a 40 year old cold case with potential witness's mysteriously dying all while coping with his own inner demons?

A dark tale is contrasted with the familiar banter from Mullens and the rest of Bones team while they work to bring justice the the victims family.

Another winner from this brilliant author and wonderful narration. 5 stars from me and I will now eagerly await book 4!

Yet another enjoyable book in this series

This was yet another great listen - really enjoyed and so inventive. The descriptions were lovely, the characters are more developed as they continue their 'journeys'. The scenery and location are so brilliantly described and is a character in itself.

This could be listened to as a standalone but I would recommend for a more full experience to listen to the first two as it gives more of the background why DCI Bone is sufferering PTSD.

The narration really suits - All in all really do recommend.

I was given a free copy by the author via the book club - audible listeners but the review is entirely my own.

The best in the series so far.

This is the 3rd in the series and I think it would best to read the others first to get a sense of the people, and the background to this one.
It is the best so far. D.I. Bone is back with a healthier mind and body. Following a request from a dying man in a secure psychiatric hospital to see him, he is given a cold case to ease in gently, as you can guess it doesn't quite work out like that.
I love how the characters are all moving forward with their lives, how the pressure of policing is managed in different ways by different members of the service, how each new piece of information has to be slotted in to the wider picture, and how the death of a boy decades ago echoes into the present time.
The story flows well, is an easy read, the pacing is great and the narration very good.
For me there are a couple of things that were a bit contrived but overall a 4/4.5 star read.

Another excellent book in a great series

Another excellent book in this series. This time Bone and his colleagues have to investigate a cold case involving a teenager missing for 40 years.

The prologue hooked me in straight away and the book continues at a fast pace. I am in awe at T G Reid's inventiveness because one of the the murders in this book is totally unique (as far as I know!) and very, very disgusting!! I listened in two sittings because I really wanted to know how it would end. DCI Bone is still struggling with his mental health after the events in the previous book, and this is very well portrayed by the author. His marital problems are also causing him some distress. The camaraderie and banter between the team is very realistic and we get to know them better with each book. Mullens and his father are a great comedy pair and never fail to make me giggle.

As always Steve Worsley's narration is fantastic.

Wow!!!

Wow!!! I really enjoyed books 1 and 2, and I was looking forward to book 3. This one certainly didn't disappoint. I would say that I liked it even better than books 1 and 2, but I can't put my finger on exactly why. It was just so satisfying as a story with all the twists and turns and with how it wrapped up. As with the others, there's the perfect balance between little bits of sub-character side stories and action-packed suspense. I want more DCI Bone stories. I very much hope that it becomes a long series.

Perfect narrator for the book

Sorry by I love these audios

So Bone is finally back to full health and back
To work this time on an historic case of quite a dark and nasty murder of a young boy presumed to have run away at the time of his difference. This is a more of the usual Bone falling out with his boss but he’s finally turning his life around and things are looking up and he’s determined to bring someone to justice for this crime before it’s too late. Roll on book 4 and a big shout out to Steve Worsley who’s narration I love.
