Recently jobless and homeless, now I’ve been kidnapped by aliens. I thought my day couldn’t get any worse, until the disgusting Orkun warlords who abducted me tell me I’m meant to be a “bride” for their commander. No! No freaking way. We’d heard rumors about the Vandar raiders — everyone in the galaxy had. Terrifying and ruthless, they were a scourge on the Zagrath empire and destroyed everything in their path. Few had actually laid eyes on the Vandar or the notorious warlords who led their fleets of warships — and survived to talk about it. So, when the ruthless aliens boarded our ship intent on destroying it and killing the crew, I did the only thing I could do. I gave myself to the dark and menacing warlord.

Summary
Abbey
Some scary-looking aliens have just boarded Fortuna Tau, our little asteroid mining station. Kordolians, by the looks of things. What the hell do they want with this floating rust bucket? What are they even doing here?
Come to think of it, I've never seen a Kordolian up close before. They're huge and intimidating, with strange silver skin and pointed ears. They have freaky nano-armor, and they're packing a serious arsenal. We humans stand no chance against them.
When I encounter their general, I find him insufferable. Arrogant. Domineering. He won't tell me anything. I guess that's what happens when your race is kicking ass across the Nine Galaxies. You get pigheaded.
So why do I keep running into him? Why does he keep looking at me like that? And what's with this weird feeling I get when he's around? I really hope these guys fix their ship and go away soon, because I get the feeling they could be major trouble.
Tarak
Sucked into a wormhole during a fierce skirmish with an enemy ship. Spat out near a human mining station in a remote corner of the Nine Galaxies. Stuck with weak humans who operate with inferior metals and technology.
This mission couldn't get any worse.
We need to fix our craft, kill the cursed Xargek, and get out of here before the wormhole collapses. I don't really care about these humans. Their existence makes no sense to me.
So why has this strange human female captured my attention? She's messy, awkward, and she babbles nonsense half the time.
These humans are crazy. I don't understand them at all, especially this female. Why do I keep coming back to her?
I need to leave this place before I go insane.
Contains mature themes.

Rather disappointing
I had hoped for a more interesting story, but found it lacking in originality, unfortunately. The dialogue was a bit cringey at times, and this was compounded by the Narration, which was pretty dreadful. Nobody wants to hear the sexy bits done in a James Earl Jones, or Trevor MacDonald newsreader style formal tone... its just wrong (although you just have to giggle at it in the end). unlikely to revisit this author or narrator. Wanted to like it, but sorry, just wasn't possible.

Disappointing
The plot had promise but ultimately the book just didn't live up to it...I got so frustrated with it that I nearly gave up. It reminds me of those cheap horror films where there's always some idiot woman who hears a noise and then goes to investigate it by herself and invariably gets killed. Same with our "spunky" heroine...every time she gets told to do something for her own safety she gets a wild idea in her head and does the exact opposite...and of course nearly dies and that poor male has to go to the rescue. I really wish some writers could learn that being smart, feisty and independent does not equal potty mouth, tantrums and sexual manipulation. To be fair to the author, the book was well written and I admit 3 stars is a bit harsh...but honestly I have no patience for stupidity in real and/or imaginary life and our heroine was just too stupid to live (or at least she was that for the better part of the book).

Great Book, Good Listen
I loved the book and listening to this on school runs (after and before kids of course) has kept me sane many a morning/afternoon stuck in traffic. Not to sure about the male narrator imitating a woman’s voice though. Would have been better to have the woman do the female voice and vice versa. However still enjoyed and am ready to move onto book 2

So excited that there are already 8 books in the series
I found this gem just before Book 3 was released on Audible- very excited that there are 7 more books at least possible! Book 1 was a refreshing take on space romance, and the author does an amazing job at creating the “landscapes” with words. Narrators were different- but not distracting. I seriously loved the sections read by Todd McLaren.

Sexy elves in space! Perfection!
This is the alien romance series I've been waiting for all my adult life! Evil space dark elves are the sexy aliens I didn't know I needed. I listened to this one and then halted my life for over a week while I devoured the others. They are all SO AWESOME! The male characters are nothing short of delicious and the ladies are not wilting violets like most of the female characters in these types of stories. They are all kick-ass women! They are regular people, they have jobs, bills, mood swings. It's great!
Abbey is a great leading lady and the General...how to say this. I love him! When he comes across something he doesn't understand, he just ignores it and moves on. It's so funny and refreshing the way they navigate relating to one another.
I cannot recommend this book and this whole series enough! SO GOOD! Please chain Anna Carven to a typwriter and make her write me more of these incredible stories!

I've read all 8 books plus the short one (4.5) in one weekend because I couldn't get enough. Now I can hardly wait for the rest of the series to come out in audible. Not what I was expecting.
This was an enjoyable first book, I look forward to more from this series. Abbey and Tarak’s story did not follow what I had anticipated by the book’s summary. I thought it would all take place on the mining station, but most of it took place on an alien planet. Admittedly the story was not without flaws. There were a few holes in the sci-fi aspect of it, but since this is more romance than sci-fi I did not complain. I look forward to Kykal and Arin’s book. Narrators are good, Todd Mclaren was good but maybe not the perfect choice for the role

Painful
I’ve read the Dark Planet Warriors series – really great. However, it is does not work as live performance. The narration is atrocious. The female lead grates on the ear. Nag and complain from start to finish at a high pitch. The General sounds artificial & stilted.

Dark Planet Warriors
Jillian Macie, Todd McLaren are quite a team during the reading of this story. They bring the story to life as well as the characters. Todd is the General of the Kordolian fleet. His deep voice sends chills down the back and brings the heart rate up. Jillian as Abbey brings a humanity to the General as well as the lighter side of him. The two together play well together and makes the story alive and heart stopping.
Fantastic story telling!
