Summary

Second edition - remastered to handle contraction issues.

Eric Yang is 32, a combat veteran of the Saudi war, and a student at Denver University (DU). His goal was to reintegrate back into society. His service freed him from the mistakes of his past. His dedication pushed him to achieve more from life even with his disabilities. While not all scars from war are visible, Eric was given a cybernetic arm that even scientists in 2032 considered futuristic.

An isolated semester at DU is disrupted by his doctor's dire warning. The asteroid barreling toward Earth is an alien spacecraft with hostile intent. Eric scrambles to plan, consolidate, and form his team while the rest of an oblivious society is prevented from vital information.

Futuristic vikings vs...

A interesting concept and I can't say that I did not enjoy and with a dual narration it feels more smoother as the female cast feels more natural.

An improvement over the previous version.

Don't get me wrong, Chris Graves did a great job narrating the previous version. However, Jack and Alexa's range of voices and accents bring more life to the characters. It feels like I'm listening to a radio drama.

great apocalypse tale.

Story was a unique take on the apocalypse, good build up, great background from the MC. Author for sure has a military background based on some of the things discussed. World as he knew it ends, new rules must be followed. Book has base building,,very detailed base building. I really enjoy world building and this one does a great job of that. It adds to the overall story line and makes it feel more visceral. I don't want to ruin the story too much but the Main and supporting characters are great; the storyline itself is excellent.

The narrators are new to me, I have not heard them before that I can remember, but they deliver on the story and make it come alive. Good duo and I will be happy to listen to more of their work in the future.

Highly recommended audiobook.

I couldn't make it that far... it's so bad...

Tell me you've never engaged in an alternative relationship (BDSM, Polyamory, etc) without telling me you've never been in one. That's the vibes I got from this book. The dialog is POORLY written. What makes the dialog even worse is the cadence by which it is narrated. It's not "voice acted" like many books are done on here. It literally sounds like they're just reading it. And the cut ins for the "he saids" between dialog have a drastically different sound, volume, etc. you can tell they're just patched in.

I would have given this 5 stars if there was a category for "Cringe Factor." I really wish I could have made it to the actual meat and potatoes of the story, but damn the cringe was strong with this book.

better and better

let me start by saying I hate mecha type stories and never really enjoyed viking or gun books. damn, I was missing out by not trying this sooner. Post apocalypse, town building with enough action to keep even my goldfish mind interested.

Porn for preppers - alien sci-fi later in series

Good book. The location and supplies put together for an end of the world event are as impressive as the ladies.

Rest of series: transitions to aliens, sci-fi and harrem.

Definitely worth completing the series (I have read through book 3, waiting on rest of series). Worth re-reading.

Just don't.

Go read the back of cereal box out loud to yourself. The prose and narration will both be better. Maybe I am being unfair and this is a great story or something, but I will never know. The combination of absolutely terrible dialogue and annoying narrator stopped me from making past the first few minutes.

Base Building and Alien Invasion

For the first couple chapters, I had a hard time with the readers. I am not sure if it was the recording or my head phones. I stuck with it and I found that I couldn't turn it off. This caused me to lose a few hours of sleep. The narrators did a fine job after the first few chapters and I could not be happier. This does have a harem, base building, and looting. I am waiting to see what the next book has to offer.
