About this listen
Conquest is the next chapter in the great interstellar war between all living creatures and the machines. Star Force must stop the machine invaders once again - but how?
In the fourth book of the Star Force series, Kyle Riggs has freed Earth from the chains of the Macros - but at what cost? The Macros no longer trust him. He is a mad dog that must be put down - and all Star Force must be stamped out with him. The war expands in this story, and mankind is once again faced with annihilation.

a poor recording
I'm guessing this was recorded at different times in different places. at a lot of places the audio changes and it does impact negatively on listening to it

A great listen from the master.
A great listen from the master.
I have invested heavily into this series and has built steadily so as not to disappoint.
some annoying characters and seemingly immortal coincidences.
looking forward to progressing to a logical point before the series burns out by re hashing the old.

The story continues, but doesn't slow down, still fast paced and entertaining, He does it once more and I have to get the next installment

Another Solid Story From Larson
I've been reading the Star Force series from book one and have now completed
Star Force: Conquest which is book four in this saga. Each book consolidates
a little more the position of Star Force but also allows for further ongoing
conflict between the Macros and Star Force. I cannot really say too much
more than I have already done so in my reviews of previous books in this
series as Larson is a very consistent writer and the quality of his stories
wavers very little thus far.
This book is another of those that are sort of a story of two halves. The
first act takes place mostly on Earth as Riggs and his Star Force defend
their home base from a massive Macro assault. The second act takes the
battle into space and into the worm system. Alliances are formed and it's
this part of the book that I found the more interesting of the two acts.
Again, the rather irritating and petty Crow character is present but
thankfully doesn't play much of a role. I can sort of see why Larson has
written this character as he acts as a thorn in the side of Riggs but
perhaps it's time for him to be killed off by the author sometime soon I
hope.
Sandra's character is further developed in this story and she assumes the
role of bodyguard to her lover Riggs. Other than that, Riggs just seems to
either be considering how shapely she is or cavorting in the sack with her.
For some reason never explained, Riggs' trusty sidekick, Kwan has been
demoted from Captain to First Sergeant. Another very minor observation I
spotted was the mention of having ballistic submarines surface in order to
fire their missiles. Such vessels do not need to surface to do so and
surfacing would give away their position which would immediately give away
their tactical stealth which sort of defeats the point of having ballistic
submarines. A simple fact to research so a little surprising that Larson got
that wrong.
Star Force: Conquest is another excellent addition to the series which is taking shape nicely and as ever we are left with an ending that entices the reader to come back for more.

Slow in parts
Struggled with the story in the middle. Far to detailed in some of the battles.

Love the story but horribly, cringily sexist
As per all the other books in this series, the female characters exist only to be in love with the protagonist and to fulfil a male fantasy. The same phrases are trotted out again and again. When they look at something, it's inevitably with 'dark, pretty eyes', they walk and we must watch their 'shapely forms' and when they cross their arms, it's always 'under their breasts'.

Brilliant
gripping from start to finish. i have a very varied taste in books so sci-fi isnt necessarily my thing, although I do love Douglas Adams. But, this series so far is brilliant. exciting, and a real page turner. I doubt you will be able to finish one book without buying the next in the series.
