Very dissapointed with the narration.

My enjoyment of the story was diminished by the poor narration. A lot of the time it was as if a computer was reading it, each word was spoken individual instead of in phrases.
I am sure that I would have enjoyed it far more if the narration had have been better .

A good story

The collection is a good story that follows a young girl who is left alone after a war with English and Norman.
Her trials and those of her mother will pull your heartstrings.
It would have been better if the narrator was better at reading the story. I did not care for the way she reads.

awful narrator

the stories were AMAZING! but getting through the narrator was tough. it was a if she read each word one at a time instead of as a sentence.

Awesome

I absolutely loved this series. Catherine is one outstanding woman. She went through so much turmoil, but through it all she stayed strong and caring. We should all take a page out of her book. I know she got a happy ending, I was just hoping for a little more for her.

Rich History

Three stories intertwined. Each story can be listened to or read alone, but I couldn't stop at just one! Loved the rich history and the descriptions of the time. The struggle and the survival of the people was amazing. These stories will amuse all audiences.

Amazing trio

I loved this set of books. There were times when I wanted to scream at the characters and other times hug them. I got very absorbed into the stories. The stories were well written and narrated. I had a hard time stopping the book and at times sat in my car to finish the chapter. I would definitely recommend this book!!!!!!

Each part bridges the way to the next as the charictors archive goals and fulfill their dreams. Period tales are enjoyable when they bring you in and this did!

Anglo-Saxon life under Norman rule

These stories give an idea of what life was like for the Anglo-Saxons after the Norman Conquest. The first book follows the life of a young girl, Avis, of a noble family and what happened to her after she had seem her mother being taken by the invading Normans. This story emphasis the difference in the cultures as well as how Avis feels about the king’s decree that she should marry a Norman. Melville, a Norman, is equally, unhappy to marry. Can anything develop between them? This was an entertaining story with an unexpected development.
The second book goes back in time to describe the meeting of Catheryn ( mother of Avis) with her husband, Selwyn. This is a shorter story but it sets up the relationship between Catheryn and her family as well as with her husband. This prepares for the last story of what happened to Catheryn after the invasion. This touches on the emotions of the people involved. Catheryn needed to be strong given her experiences during her life.
I would say that the narrator was just a little too precise at times for me. When Katy Bunn was using different voices it followed more easily. These are very good stories for describing the life for the people, both noble and peasant, during this period of history.
I was given a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest review.
