About this listen
Benjamin Daniels is angry. He is frustrated, confused, baffled and, quite frequently, very funny. He is also a GP. These are his confessions.
A woman troubled by pornographic dreams about Tom Jones. An 80-year-old man who can't remember why he's come to see the doctor. A woman with a common cold demanding (but not receiving) antibiotics. A man with a sore knee. A young woman who has been trying to conceive for a while but now finds herself pregnant and isn't sure she wants to go through with it. A 7-year-old boy with 'tummy aches' that don't really exist.
These are his patients.
Confessions of a GP is a witty insight into the life of a family doctor. Funny and moving in equal measure it will change the way you look at your GP next time you pop in.

Great narration but sadly content not as good.
I was enjoying the book, but found his comments on ME and fibromyalgia as really insulting. SLS as he calls it, being “Shit Life Syndrome” as a way to describe people with serious chronic illness is not in anyway helping the stigma surrounding it already from the ill informed and uneducated. Obviously being a Dr, one would hope for understanding and compassion, but it can be seen here that he only further ostracised those who need help.
A shame as the book was funny and interesting in parts and well narrated, but as he is a person in a position of influence i can not condone the spread of misinformation like that.

Honest and interesting account of GP life
Sometimes very funny, sometimes sad, this book doesn’t disappoint and is a very interesting reflection of life as a UK GP. Highly recommended and looking forward to reading the follow up. Thank you Dr.

Hilarious!
A hilarious listen for a fellow healthcare professional, providing real insight into what your GP is really thinking about and feels before, during and after your consultation

Very Good listen and narration
This book and further confessions should be listened to with face covering having taken mouthful of coffee and spitting it out over my car dashboard (not on purpose) after hearing the tale of a artillery shell ,a very entertaining and pleasurable listen .Oh and Mr Daniels you owe me for the wipes to clean my car

Good stories, poor narration.
At times the author is a little pompous in his attitudes, but the anecdotes are generally well put together and give an interesting account of the life of a GP. However, the narrator turns slightly pompous attitudes into full blown snobbery. The accents that he gives to the patients portray everyone as idiots. Sometimes these accents are in keeping with the characters, but most of the time they are unnecessarily rude.
