An exceptional collection of varying horror

Review - Collective Darkness - Horror Anthology

It is clear from the introduction that a lot of time and affection went into compiling this anthology.
The perfect mix of short, sharp, violent horror and long tense thrillers. Collective Darkness introduces a range of authors I hadn't had the pleasure of reading before, and will definitely seek out more of in the future.

Padua's eyes by Jonathan Reddoch was a firm favourite of mine, vampiric ponies and bloody revenge.

We also have a beautiful short story by Alex Child involving a cute pair of boys visiting a pond. Flowing prose and a cute little relationship shouldn't go with a horror anthology, but it works so well!

Men in mirrors, beasts in the dark, bombs in the mist, symbols in books, blood in the snow, murder on set and unwanted visitors in pubs....

Collective Darkness, the perfect collection of darkness

I will finish by saying what a wonderful job the narrators of the audiobook did. Each was perfectly suited to the story they had.

Great Collection

As a fan of horror anthologies I was really happy to receive a copy of @collectivedarkness recently released audiobook, as a dog owner audiobooks are essential on my evening dog walks and this was a pleasure to listen to when out.

Featuring twelve tales of terror from a variety of authors, there is a story here for all horror fans. Creature features, slashers, psychological horrors and more are contained within the collection.

The audiobook features a fantastic array of narrators with exceptional quality.  I found myselr truly hooked and taking longer and longer walks with the dog to listen to more.

A particular favourite of mine was "Brisket, Please" by @beccarosewriter which has resulted in me re watching The Scream franchise.  And also @eddy_wc_ opening tale Feast, which sat with me long after listening to it and is also the youngest author at 17 in this collection! That is also a really nice touch to the audiobook is that after each story there is an editors bio about each author.

So if you're looking for a new audiobook or horror anthology, this is a great choice and will keep you entertained on these summer evenings.

Brilliant!

What a dark and twisted beauty this was! Every story in this book was top notch. There wasn't a single weak link in my opinion!

There are 13 stories, all with different time periods and settings and all with an array of beasts, cults and monsters. If you like creature features this is certainly for you, but if not, don't be put off; there's so much more to these stories.

Every horrible creature is in some way a personification of a human emotion, even the seemingly most innocent, and each is explored perfectly.

The narration was also good. There were multiple narrators, not always doing a perfect job but never distracting from the stories. For the most part, it was smooth and well performed and often hightened the impact of many intense scenes.

Would highly recommend this, it was brilliant! I'm excited to read more from these authors!
