Summary
Ex-FBI agent Cody O'Brien lives a quiet life in Northern California. Self-sufficient and content, she provides a good home for herself and her eight-year-old son, Ryan. But all of that is shattered when Ryan is kidnapped is broad daylight....
Cody's greatest fear is knowing the true motive behind the abduction. For her entire life is a lie - one so easily exposed, and so very dangerous. A woman of hard-earned courage, she escaped the killers responsible for her husband's murder - and learned to start over. Failed by the Witness Protection Program, she trusts only herself to save her son. Now she's on the run again-and heading blindly toward a past that wants only one thing from her: cold-blooded revenge.

Intense suspense!
As a standalone novel COLD SILENCE is not part of either of Danielle Girard's excellent series. It is a very intense suspense novel with a very sound plot line. The plot is about an ex-FBI agent and her 8 year old son who are in the witness protection program due to the Russian Mafia's intent to kill them. 11 of the 13 Danielle Griard novels are in my Audible library and all are very strong suspense thrillers. All have strong female protagonists. Nicol Zanzarella narrates this novel superbly.

Secrets and betrayals
Who can you trust when you’re on the run from the Russian mob? This is what Cody O’Brien has to figure out when her son is kidnapped. They already found her when she was in first the WITSEC program, can they do it again?
This was a heart pumping thriller! Highly recommend.

Great story
the story itself is really good. the only downside to it is the excessive amount of details and description of everything. but I imagine that the story would be a great deal shorter if they were removed.

Very Enjoyable
Cold Silence is a good story with characters I really liked. At the end of the book I found myself wishing I could ready another book featuring Cody, her son and the Colonel. The plot summary provides enough details. There is a snow mobile scene that was unbelievable as the characters are yelling to each other over the noise of the engine, and if you have ever been riding you will know how difficult it is to actually hear over the motor. I had to roll my eyes a little., but few book do not have something you can nic pick. I found the narration very good and I enjoy all of her work. I know some do not enjoy this narrator but I think she is good.

I maybe could've finished it if not for the narrat
This is a slight twist on an old story - her husband's murdered by the Russian mob (before the book begins), kid's kidnapped in revenge. I could've maybe finished it if only to see the bad people get what they deserved. But the narrator! A tear in every syllable until I got so annoyed I almost threw my iPod across the room. Stop already! I'm depressed, So I deleted the book. I feel better already.
I've listened to the Schwartzman series by Danielle Girard, and enjoyed them. But the narrator in them is Dr. Shannon McManus who I like. Unfortunately this is a recent book so maybe the publishers are going to stick with her. I won't listen to them.

Horrible
So bad I couldn't get thru the first four chapters.I think most would agree with an audible of course story, but the narrator so key to enjoy the book. This one failed miserably!! No wonder only $7 Well there goes that money.

Learn Your Rank Structure!!
This might have been a good story but I could not get past the writer's misunderstanding of Marine Corps ranks in terms of Time in Service and Time in Grade. I could have looked passed it if it had not been for a major character being referred to as "The Colonel" incessantly who is a seasoned Marine with 37 years in service which does not make any sense at all. Any Marine officer that has been 37 years in service would at least be a Major General. Also, where the FBI is concerned there is quite a bit that is wrong. Although I suppose it's benign enough, it's distracting to me because I know better.
