Summary

Known worldwide for her mental fortitude, hardcore training tactics, and an ability to push through extreme discomfort, pro athlete Sally McRae’s strength wasn’t built in the gym. For the first time, McRae candidly tells her shocking story of abuse, loss, and wild resilience that laid the foundation for the woman she is today. In this powerful memoir, Sally bypasses the often-loud sea of motivational quotes and hyped ideas about what it means to be strong, cutting right to the core of every human with her gentle yet firm reminders that we are all strong!

Honest, relatable, and raw, every listener will connect with Sally’s story and see how they too can overcome even the most difficult situations in life and sport. Choose Strong is a story for everyone from every age and walk of life looking to live their strongest life.

Sensational

I stumbled upon Sally through Cam’s Keep Hammering podcast.

Her desire, will and resilience spoke to me.

I downloaded Choose Strong and found her own story fleshed out as very inspiring.

A must read for anyone going through hardships.

Best of luck for the future Sally.

Looking forward to Part 2.

Beautiful and sad story

I really enjoyed this for what is was. I would have liked some more about running and the story of that, but that is coming in part 2.

Sally is someone who is so inspiring, and given the conflicted way in which she grew up, both with fierce, huge love and something far more awful, I have more respect and understanding of her now. Thank you for telling your story.

Claire BM

I absolutely love this book and everything about Sally, she is a fantastic human being and roll model. I always ask myself now… what would Sally do?

Different to what I was expecting

I was expecting running tips & tricks kind of book, it’s more of sally’s life & how she came to be.
If you’re already a fan of sally then this is worth your time, I must also say sally has a fantastic narration voice.
Looking forward to a part two!

Emotional but encouraging

This was incredibly tough at times. Listening to accounts of abuse is never easy. But it is so important to talk about. I enjoyed Sally’s way of talking about this and how she views life and its possibility and hope without dismissing how hard and difficult life can be. Although listening to the chapters when her mum is increasingly ill and dying, i don’t recommend doing in the supermarket- that was a mistake on my part!

Just wow !

Wasn’t expecting that . Powerful, inspirational, courageous and moving. Hard to really some it up . So glad I listened to this . I think she is amazing, a happy end to the story with eddy and her children .10/10 read and listen. Think it’s a better listen her voice telling the story

Raw and heart warming

I was sort of prepared that it would be a rough ride listening to this. The listening definitely benefits from having the author reading it, it gives a genuine feeling. The ups and downs of Sally's life brings out feelings of loss and mourning, but also hope and a healthy reflection of how we value ourselves. Keep up being you Sally.

Don't choose

First time I've ever been motivated to leave a review

This was so bad that I couldn't help myself

Anodyne, trite, irritatingly self-absorbed guff. Sally McRae may be a worthy person and a remarkable athlete. She is not, however, a writer, storyteller or motivational speaker

I would prefer running an ultra-marathon to listening through to the end of this. I'm thankful that I only wasted one audible credit
