Summary

She’s everything I shouldn’t want. I capture her anyway.

What humans hail an invasion we call Garrison Earth: A mission to save our species from extinction. But while my warriors will soon have the stomachs of their new mates swell with daughters, I know this planet holds nothing for me.

Until a fierce, red-haired female points her gun with her eyes blazing fire, and I know I have found my mate. A bullet and a tranquilizer pad later, I carry her in my arms. Against my better judgment. But who argues fate?

With a mission at the brink of failure, I have no time to wait around until Eden is willing to bond. I took her freedom. Might have taken her family. Taking her body is my obligation.

I am a male without conscience. Incapable of love. No one has ever pierced my cold heart.

No one ever will.

Not even her.

Captured is the first book in this interconnected romance series, following the Vetusian invasion and how it changes Earth over the course of two decades. If you enjoy strong women, devoted aliens, fated mates, and hard-earned happily ever after’s with no cliffhangers, you’ll love Garrison Earth.

Author note: The entire Garrison Earth series touches on subjects such as captivity, drug abuse, forced prostitution, loss of loved ones, human trafficking, rough handling, and violence. Any listener uncomfortable with the harsh realities of an alien invasion should please consider before purchase.

Painstakingly written !

Painstakingly written!

Carefully constructed +Poetic+Depth+outstanding character development <3

Narration: Excellent! Perfectly timed emotion and tonal variation. I would have liked a male narrator for the male chapters. However, the narrator was so good you didn’t notice past the 2nd chapter. There were growls and grunt that seemed quite realistic. You will not be disappointed.

The writing in this book was the best I have seen in quite some time. The author writes with so much detail and emotion that you might as well be inside the book. The H is so darn relatable and strong, you honestly can't help but love her. But just as much as I loved the female character I loved Torren too! If I'm being honest Torren was the best part of the story for me. He was open and honest and strong. He was also vulnerable- especially in his inner thoughts( with us the reader). The way Torren reasoned contained a huge amount of depth. I'm telling you without a shadow of a doubt the way this Author writes is down right IMPRESSIVE. How did she write such complex characters with life-like emotions/situations... I have no idea. This was extremely visual and emotionally captivating . This book was carefully written with heart and depth. This book didn’t just hit the surface in regards to characters and emotion.. it went so much deeper. You honestly have to read it to understand what I mean. Character development was also very well developed! I felt like I knew the both of them so well.

Beware : This book is emotional and contains a lot of inner dialogue.. but on the flip side its relatable and complex. Don't be afraid you will get some kickass action in there. Its not exactly throughout the entire book though, more like beginning and end only.

Beware : You can’t tell by the book cover, but this is NOT a smut fest ! While I prefer a balance of sexy time … I did not receive it, though it didn't exactly dampen the mood for me.
Sex does happen between them, but for quite some time both parties were not enjoying it ( the H was not actively engaging in sex, but simply allowing ) … a little bit of DUB-CON in those regards. This of course eventually changes and the sex scenes ( while not many) are quite steamy.

Torren grew emotionally and it was beautiful to watch. AHHHhhh ( * swoons*) ... huge protective alien males.
Overall the story is definitely worth reading. It highlights vulnerability on both sides while also exploring the exigency of wanting/needing a powerful connection with someone (love). If I was to identify a theme in this story it would be : Love can ground you ,and support you.

In everything, I thank the author for sharing their imagination with me.

my brain hasn't died but I can't finish it.

I've thought about it a long time and I just feel the story has a lot going on but the characters have no depth. It has been a long time since I couldn't care less what happened to any one of the characters in the story. I can't waste the time to finish it.

A breath of fresh Air

This book was a breath of fresh air in the sci Fi romance genre. One of the best takes on fated mates I've read, no simple caving of the heroine. It actually has an arc you don't see coming and isn't overly bubbly.
The narrator is fantastic!

nerve wracking

so I'm going to get my honest opinion of this book I almost literally stopped listening to it 20 times. I am always down for a strong woman in any book I'm also definitely a fully aware that I would never want to be with anybody after being abducted but deeper in the story where there was a lack of understanding between them maybe wanted like not listen to this book but at the end and overall it was pretty good I don't fully like how it ended but it was a good book overall once you could get through a lot of the she was a b**** and he was an a******.

Good story

I did not think I was going to like the book in truth the main female in the story was a bitch but the author brought me around and in the end she grew on me. The story line was well thought out and allowed for empathy for the invaders well touching on the difficulties of blending two cultures looking forward to reading more

Not bad a little slow

Over all this was a good story but got a little slow 3/4 in. It did pick up again but by then it was only knowing the end was soon that kept me listening. I do recommend this title, just be prepared for the slow part.

Capture!🥰

This story was really well written! The medical officer at the Inn was more worried about her hurting him then him hurting her! Love the narrator!

Ridiculous

We hope to make it to the end of this book, but so far this heroine is ridiculous. I feel sorry for the poor alien dude. We'll power through and come back to update this review...maybe.

********** UPDATE **********

Okay, by chapter 21 the whole dysfunctional version of the heroine's "I'm a strong woman" trope was fairly over. She was still verbally and physically abusive to the hero, but she did grow a bit. But by chapter 28 she was back to her non-communicative verbally abusive self. I knew there would be an HEA since it's a romance novel, so we stuck it out to see how they would pull it off. Otherwise, this book would have been returned. Won't be getting the next one.

Off to Good Start

The first book had an interesting storyline and set the tone for Book 2. The narration was good; was able to tell the difference between characters. I like V.K.’s books. The sex wasn’t as graphic as other books in this genre and this was fine; some books are over the top.
