About this listen

Roslyn Blackthorne is dead.

I should know, I watched it happen.

My twin and I didn’t believe we’d ever meet our mate, and then she showed up in our bar, and the world as we knew it changed. Fate hadn’t been kind to us. Not once. So it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that we lost her as soon as we claimed her.

I spent so much time worried about her manipulative demon, I didn’t anticipate it would be my own sordid past that killed her.

It was our fault. They should have blamed me and Remi. Instead, for the first time since Rosie turned our lives upside down, we are united:

Her vampire husband.

Her hybrid hacker.

Her alpha wolves.

I thought I’d give anything to see those amber eyes of hers again.

I was wrong.

So wrong.

Because the moment I got my wish, it wasn’t my sugar staring back at me. It was a monster.

And now I’ll never be the same.

Warning: The Mate Games: Pestilence is a spicy why-choose series that is sure to set your...heart...on fire. If you’re not a fan of grumpy dukes with a penchant for pain, purple demons with fancy body parts, nosy hackers with boundary issues, angsty wolf shifters who like to share, sword crossing, and plenty of group activities, this one’s not for you. But if it is...welcome back to The Mate Games, we’ve been waiting for you.

The story broke me - 10 stars

Captive of the Night is a punishing assault on your emotions as the tension ramps up on the second attempt at the apocalypse but along the way we have to deal with the fallout of THAT cliffhanger from Book 2. Listening to this you will be constantly on edge, one minute you are plunged into agonising despair, the next you are delirious happy and giggling insanely like you are high, then you are burning up hotter a freaking supernova with all this intense passion and desire before plummeting right back down into aching sadness. Strap in because that cycle plays on relentless repeat and throw in bouts of momentary anger which will have you screaming in frustration.

Speaking of which, Meg/Kim - we need to talk about what you put my beloved Mercer twins through in this book!!! What.The.Hell. Fellow Mercer devotees, heads up. Ben and Remi are both strung out and crushed in this book. Remi's relationship with Asher is tested to the max in this one and its painful to watch and even more brutal to listen to as the amazing Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton dial up the heartache and longing in this one. Jeddy fans, rejoice, your favourite pair do not disappoint.

However, I'm a Ben girl and what happens to him and Rosie in this one is like something out of an epic romantic melodrama. Its heartbreaking as the fallout of Book 2 threatens to put their relationship in permanent jeopardy as Ben struggles to reconcile the war raging between what he wants and his past trauma. For this reason, J F Harding is the standout in this particular book for me as he continues to completely floor me with his raw powerful performance of Ben's vulnerability but then also manages to dial up the rugged, sexy, growling Alpha wolf voice in other instances to completely seduce the hell out of me. Daddy Ben, yes please!!! Harding is a dangerous actor for this very reason and I freaking adore him for it. Prepare to swoon.

In the mix of this drama and heartache are moments of wicked delight and the authors trademark humour thanks mostly to the purple demon, Captain Aubergine himself, Pan. Played to gleeful perfection by James Joseph who clearly is having way to much fun in this role, Pan the anti-hero is back in full force causing maximum mayhem in all his glory.

Gavin, our Duke of Tears, manages to shine in this one by stepping up and holding the group together and being the unsuspecting rock to Rosie. He is proving that its not only his devilishly arrogant domineering ways that make us love him...but he actually has a heart under there...but don't let him hear you say that. John Hartley has clearly embraced this role so much he wields his seductive voice like a weapon that you will be powerless to resist him.

Stella Hunter continues to impress with her spectrum of vocal talent by beautifully portraying our beloved Rosie through all the facets of her journey in this one. She and J F Harding made me cry several times throughout including one haunting scene on a doorstep....I say no more. But Stella has such range and a new character popping up, the Southern Dynasty style Mayor DuBois is truly delightful.

You would think with all these interweaving relationship dynamics that the plot might suffer but nothing could be further from the truth. The authors have cleverly kept us all distracted, mainly by ripping our hearts out and stitching them back in, that you would be forgiven for missing the subtly planted clues that had been sprinkled in the first two books and starting to bloom in this one. We get ever closer to the finale and whether the world will really end this time and there is a genius plot twist towards the end that will have you going, oh god how did I miss that!

All in all, its a breathtaking thrill of a ride and will have you salivating to find out how it will all unravel in the final book.

Remember, the game is in play, the Queen will now make her move!

3.5 stars

This picked up right where book 2 ended. More suspense continues. The banter is still funny! I can't wait to see whats next because it ends on another cliffhanger.

The duet audiobook is narrated by Stella Hunter, Teddy Hamilton, JF Harding, John Hartley, James Joseph, and Jacob Morgan. They all did an awesome job.

The Surprises Keep Coming!

After the events that unfolded in the previous book of the series Rosie is trying to deal with all the changes she is facing. Gavin understands what she is going through in a way the other mates can’t so he becomes her guide on the journey she is facing which allows us to see a different side of him.

Due to their devastating past Remi and Ben handle the changes in different ways as Remi knows that he can’t be without Rosie whatever the cost and while Ben is trying to distance himself he soon realizes that the bond they share can’t be broken. Pan is the demon we know him to be which has Asher stuck in the past uncertain how to overcome the predicament he finds himself in.

The chemistry is hotter than ever and the surprises keep coming which all lead up to a cliffhanger that leaves us needing to know if they will be overcome the plans of others. The performance of the narrators was everything you could want as they vocalize the personality of the characters and what they are going through.

Kim & Meg at their best!

There is much to enjoy in this series for lovers of books by Kim Loraine and Meg Anne!

This book starts off right with the scene that stopped our hearts in the last book and we get to breathe again. Or at least for a little bit. The emotions were swirling around in this next book. More questions were raised and more answers were found.

Oh my heart broke for Remi. He has always been so light hearted but whatever is up with Asher has him beaten down and he is held back from Rosie while she is transcending into her new self.

Gavin pulls the guys together for her. I’m warming up to this vampire more and more. And don’t get me started on Ben! Why it takes him so long to accept his mate after her change made me madder than I should have been. But thankfully he comes around.

Pan is wreaking havoc now more than ever. And his mother Pestilence is getting closer to her goal of creating the destruction of the world.

Rosie’s mates will need to help her find a way out of this nightmare situation that is brewing because we all want a happy ending.

The narration is off the charts again in this book. The whole series has held my heart and I can’t wait for the finale to come.

The series is so amazing. I laughed, cried and worried myself at every turn. Bring on the finale and let’s see how Rosie and her men get out of this mess.

Get ready for the heat and suspense!

Captivating. That is what this installment of the Mate Games: Pestilence series is. Picking up where we left off in book two, and the roller coaster never stops! My heart is broken, and as it slowly gets fixed, it begins to break again. Over and over, these characters are wringing out my emotions. Remi who is usually funny and free is emotional and needs answers. Asher is not himself to say the least! Gavin show his compassionate side as he learns and understands just what Rosie needs. Ben works through all his feelings, trying to come to terms with his love. And we will not forget Pan, as he is truly misguided, yet his evil side is so enticing! And then we have Rosie. She is the most complex of all, and her power and strength are above them all. Add in a cameo by my favorite Daddy and this book had me captivated. And wanting the conclusion because I NEED to know!. So many unanswered questions, and Pestilence may be the one to hold the answers.

I can't even begin to talk about the cast this series has. Stella Hunter is fabulous with every voice, every accent and every emotion she puts out. She is a talent that makes this duet style listen worth it. James Joseph makes me love evil as Pan. Asher, still holds my heart with Teddy Hamilton dying to come through him. Jacob Morgan pours out all the emotions through his heart. Ben's stutter pulls me in every time as JF Harding has him tugging my heart. John Hartley as Gavin, be still my heart as this vampire becomes a bit vulnerable and keeps the command of the men for his mate. And Jason Clarke, nothing needs to be said about Father Caleb. This is an all star, fabulous listen that cannot be missed.

More Mate Games Greatness~Amazing Story & Listen🎧

Meg Anne and K. Loraine continue to blow me away with their third book in their amazing “The Mate Games: Pestilence” series and “Captive of the Night” is a very fitting title since it not only held me and my attention captive but I was all night because I could not stop listening to it, the only thing that mattered was what was going to happen next. This book picks up where the second book left off, a cliffhanger so spoiler ahead if you have not read or listened to that one yet, and if you haven’t, what are you waiting for? That book ended with Rosie’s death and this book starts with her rebirth, something none of them saw coming, not even her own brothers. The Mercer twins are having a hard time with it, Remi comes around, but it is Ben who struggles the most, but in the end he does the right thing. Another surprise is Gavin, who stepped up and took control of the situation and of Rosie, again, not in the way you have seen him, though that happens too, during some steamy scenes. And the surprises and twists and turns keep coming, Pan is still up to no good, and he has possessed one of their own, and they bring in a priest to exorcise the demon, guess who the Father was, yes, the Mate Games very own Father Caleb. He learns something, and it turns out to be a real game-changer, and while we knew something was up with Asher, we just did not know what, and now we do. The authors put these characters thru the wringer and pieces are falling in to place, and l am so looking forward to see how it all plays out. There is never a dull moment in this cleverly plotted story, it has the perfect balance of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance, reverse harem style. Meg Anne and K. Loraine, thank you for another amazing story and the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the amazing multi-cast narration and lineup of talent, Jacob Morgan, James Joseph, John Hartley, Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter, with a special appearance by Jason Clarke reprising his role as Father Caleb, continue to do an exceptional job portraying these characters and their duet performance enhances the brilliant story to another level. I love how they took their roles and made them their own, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, capture all the character’s emotions, the drama, and project it all into their performance. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

This book does not disappoint.

Holy one liners Batman! This book is a riot! The third book in the Mate Games:Pestilence series does not disappoint. It has everything!

There are so many emotional moments in this book. Be prepared to have your heart broken into a million pieces, have it stomped on, only for it to be glued back together, almost.

Full of hilarious moments, heartbreak and sooo much heat. There’s even visit from a certain swoony Irishman.

All the narrators do an amazing job on this audiobook. Cannot get enough of the full cast narration.

Can you imagine a book that shakes you?

Can you imagine a book that shakes you? That pulls you under and quickly gets you out, repeatedly? That squeezes your heart before it makes you squeeze your thighs? Well, this is the book.

With this opus, we’re back on track with the apocalypse. Sure, Rosie’s relationships with her mates are still the main element of the story, but it’s now tightly connected with Pestilence’s plan to end the world. With Pan being at the center of it all. He spends the whole book manipulating or torturing Rosie’s other lovers, following his mother’s orders. But we also learn a bit more about him, his fears, his interests, his past, his family…

With the apocalypse progressing, we get more cameos from the previous series. And they aren’t just fan service.

All the participants in Rosie’s little harem have a rough time. She’s back after her death at the end of the previous book, and you can guess how she changed. Which affects mostly Ben, who has trouble accepting her as she is after his traumatic past, and Gavin, who’s in charge of teaching her the ways of her species. And with Pan possessing Asher’s body and not interested in anyone besides Rosie, Remi loses his other love, and we see that he can hide pain behind the flirty facade. After the kink fest in the previous book, we get an angst fest.

It’s still seasoned with tasty spice. The mates have finally realized that Rosie needs all of them, and it’s time to share.

Because balance is everything, we also get more gruesome moments. The plague is setting in, and the effects aren’t pretty. It’s also hanging as a threat over the characters’ head, as unlike any other illness, it can affect all species.

Since we see the other side of every character, the narrators got to play a wide range of emotions, and they did it perfectly. Bonus point to Bentley’s narrator, who was able to go from stuttering grumpy guy to growly alpha wolf, from swoony to sexy in half a millisecond. But they all did amazing. Great audio.
