About this listen
Let the good times roll?
It’s Mardi Gras time, and Fortune is looking forward to seeing the spectacle firsthand, but when a visitor to Sinful is murdered during the celebration there, Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie can’t help but wonder what happened. As they start looking into the woman and the family in Sinful she came to visit, their investigation sends them to New Orleans, right at the height of the Mardi Gras celebration. But instead of relaxing a little and enjoying the festivities, Fortune can’t shake the feeling that she’s being watched.
When she catches sight of her father in the Mardi Gras crowd, she knows why.
Unfortunately, her father’s presence in Louisiana has brought with it a host of terrorists, all with only one thing in mind - locate and terminate Dwight Redding. Can Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie manage to evade the killers long enough to figure out why Dwight has returned from the dead? And will knowing the answer make things worse or better?

Party time
This is the type of series that no matter how many times you listen to it, you still manage to chuckle and it never fails to bring a smile to your face. I loved the characters and it is hard to pick a favourite because they are all pretty unique and impressive. With Fortune and her sidekicks traveling to New Orleans you don't get much interaction from some of the other more colourful characters the series calls residents of Sinful. That doesn't mean the story is lacking in humour, things that explode or an investigation because Fortune and Swamp team 3 are on the case and with those three around anything can happen and usually does. The mystery has two cases going on which leads the listener to learn more about Fortunes father but don't worry if this is your first time joining the team as it can work as a standalone, with the author giving you a quick summary of important information before the story starts. I fun series that I always look forward to jumping right in.
Fortune thought leaving the CIA would mean she was board running her private investigation business in a some town but it's never quite in Sinful, Louisiana. Mardi Gras season has the town throwing there own celebrations which turn tragic when a sniper takes out a visitor. With very little to go on, swamp team three jump into action to track down the killer. At the same time Fortune is being stalked by hit men looking for her father and after a braisen attack Fortune decides to head to New Orleans to follow up clues on the murder and hopefully lead the men who are after her away from everybody she cares about. Can she Ida Belle and Gertie solve the murder, find out why her father came back from the dead and stay alive?
I really like the narrator. She is the voice of Fortune for me and I hope she doesn't have any plans to quit the series.

It Gets Better and Better!
You wouldn’t believe it, even though she is no longer a part of the CIA, Firtune is very much still a part of Sunful! And therefore the adventures just keep on coming! Both the Big’s, Manny, New Orleans, and her father, make great appearances. You will not be disappointed!

Story not as good as usual
I thought that the main story line was rather weak & obvious. The additional storyline was ok but not convincing, as everything was too easy. I hope the next book is back to normal.

Another great book.
Great fan of Jana DeLeon. Love the stories and the humour in all of them including the mudbug series. The readers of both these series are excellent. Now for the next auditable book.

So Much Packed Into One Book (inc Two Mardi Gras!)
I listened to this in two halves on two consecutive days. Crikey it was good. There were two storylines which met at the start and end of the novel.
Question: Why doesn't Gerty ever use her surname to imply she is part of Big & Little Heberts 'family? (Could be jolly useful!) Or maybe the spelling is different, but can't tell as I'm listening on Audible.
We get two Mardi Gras, one in small town Sinful, one in New Orleans, so double trouble for the trio.
Couple of times big 'things happen' and are able to be swept under the carpet....which is good for the story but suspension of disbelief gets harder.
Godzilla makes an appearance as do the usual Sinful inhabitants. Hard to write a review without giving away spoilers.
I really enjoyed this book and will add it to my Listen Again list.

Bullets and Beads
The Swamp Team had to deal with more than just solving a murder, but deal with extreme circumstances while doing it. With may surprise and fun along the way, this is another Lough out load story. Read brilliantly again by Cassandra Campbell.
