Summary

Nine years ago, he broke my heart and never returned. I vowed to forget him...if only I could.

When I was a child, I fell in love with a Dakkari boy. The prince of our clan. Rukkar, we called him. For he was destined to become the greatest horde king of our time.

He was Kiran of Rath Okkili. My friend. My strong, unyielding protector. His mischievous smile and golden eyes made my heart flutter and my soul sing. And just when I began to believe he returned my love...he shattered me so completely and never once looked back to see how I’d survived.

Nine years later, he’s returned.

Only, he’s not a prince anymore.

He’s a horde king. Cold and cruel. With molten eyes like sin and a body made for war.

I promised myself I’d never love him again.

He intends to make a liar out of me.

Because he not only wants my love again...he also demands me as his queen.

okaaay

I guess the first few in the series set the bar pretty high. This book is good, don't get me wrong. If it were a standalone I'd rate it higher, but like I said the other books hit harder with higher stakes in the plots.

🌻Not a complete plot, in this one!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I have always found the concept of Horde life, intriguing; so I’ve loved this series. However, this particular book’s plot was incomplete. It was not a cliffhanger, but rather, the major conflict was introduced, explored and then never mentioned again. Perhaps the author intended th be implying that this conflict would be addressed in the next book but, it was not clear.

Therefore, the romance between the H/h is all that was added, to completion, in this chapter of the series.

In the pervious books, the H/h tackle a crises, together, conquer it but a new issue had risen, at the end.

Therefore, although the book was hot and romantic, it missed the mark; in my opinion!

My favorite of the series!

The love story is just amazing in this book. There isn't as much action and development with the main plot of the series but it was more than made up for with the love story and the amazing side characters (Maeva's family especially).

This book just solidified to me that Zoey Draven is an amazing writer. Her books aren't just mindless wash-rinse-repeat stories that so many other SFR writers seem to do, she really puts heart behind her characters and each story and character is so different.

The narrators for this series are PERFECT and do such an amazing job. I wish they narrated every other audiobook I own! 😆

Another Chance..Should She Give Him One

The Dakkari boy, Kieran, who becomes a Horde King...Maeve, a human girl raised by Dakkari and best friends with Kieran until he begins the training for a Horde King.
Can’t say I liked Kieran, he treated Maeve horribly after becoming a Horde King..totally self absorbed and left her for 9 years until he has a dream. Also I forgive Maeve’s fathers interference but really dislike Kieran’s mother and father. Hope they very show up again.
He eventually becomes more palatable but he is my least favorite of the Horde Kong’s and Maeve is ok, again not my favorite.
Enjoy the reunion with the Mad Horde King and his wife and opening our eyes to the changes on their earth.
Great narration!

Friends to enemies to lovers romance.

This story was hard for me to rate.
***
I didn’t like Kiran for a good portion of the story. Maeva seemed obsessed with him. There were things about both of them that made me angry and want to smack them upside the head. Their relationship was very messed up and had interference from other people too. Maeva came off as a doormat. Kiran was a man-ho while still thinking of her daily (grrrrr!).
End rant ***

That being said, I had passed the halfway point of the story before I started to like things about Kiran and Maeva. I still felt that they were better being apart but I tried to keep an open mind. Eventually I decided that I liked both of them and I guessed that they could be together if it made them happy. The confrontations that occurred made me happy. Maeva and Kiran discovered that there had been interference from outside sources with regard to their relationship which was a big deal. I adored that Kiran wanted Maeva to be happy so much that he made a decision without talking to her that effected her and those important to her. Their happily ever after was very sweet. I recommend reading this book (but be prepared for some frustration!).

You can also listen to the audiobook. The narrators did a great job of bringing the characters to life. I recommend listening to the audiobook as well.

Great book…can’t wait for the next one!

Zoey Draven is a really creative romance author. Lia Langola does such an amazing job performing with emotion. You really do feel what the h feels. There were a few times I found myself crying.

Dumb Stuff

The main female character had a reason to not trust; however, her dumb stuff adversely affected others. I feel for the others affected by her poor decisions. Narrators did a great job with characters. Hope there will be more books to come.
