Summary
As the jaws of winter clamp down on the city of Halifax, the light recedes and new terrors arise, in the second book of this werewolf horror series.
Months after the war with Borland and his vicious werebrood, Kirk and Morris are experiencing curious aftereffects. They’re stronger, faster, and no longer vulnerable to the sharp sting of silver. On the other hand, they're forever hungry, and nothing they eat provides the same nourishment as what they consumed on the island of Newfoundland.
When a mysterious stranger rides into Morris’s territory wishing to hunt, the warden knows the visitor isn’t after deer. The ultimate race begins as Kirk and Morris lead a host of wardens to put down one of their own before the next full moon—when an entire city will be subjected to one voracious appetite.
Breeds 2 is the second book in a trilogy of terror sure to please fans of Robert R. McCammon, Maggie Stiefvater, and Chase Novak.

Excellent but I want more
The first book was a pleasant surprise, but the second went by too fast. Can't wait for the next round, just hope it is longer.. Sound like my wife now.

Great continuation
Great continuation from the first book, however I would have like the inclusion of the main character from the first book.
I do hope book 3 will be published following on from this book, with the inclusion of the characters that have been introduced.
Thank you for a good series so far

great listen
good story reader was too monotone. found myself having to rewind as I kept drifting off thinking about other things instead of keeping up with the storyline. should've got RC to read it, but looking forward to the next book

one of the best.
A great follow up to breeds and has left me eagerly awaiting the third book in this series. A rollercoaster ride of a story that was superbly performed.

Glad I stuck with this series.
So I REALLY did not take to Breeds 1 when I first heard it. Blackmore's writing style and addiction to ludicrously macho phrasing completely shook me out of the story and I found the whole thing graceless and clumsy. BUT! Because I like the subject matter, and because this is one of the only werewolf audiobooks I could find that wasn't utterly risible menopausal erotica, I decided to listen to the second book. And I'm glad I did.
I have to confess that, not only has the series grown on me as I adjust to Blackmore's literary rules and limitations, but I even went back and re-examined the first book and found I enjoyed it a lot more.
Yes it still reads a bit like it was written by someone who genuinely considers WWE to be a sport. Yes the majority of the cast are still badasses in a world of badasses. But when you're reading a Blackmore book that's the mode. It would be like complaining that Stephen King has written yet ANOTHER story based in Maine where the protagonist is an alcoholic writer - pointless. Either you accept the style or you don't.
There are other types of character in this book that you don't see in Breeds 1. Many story elements and situations are a bit looser and more varied, while also being more sure footed in terms of authorial voice. And I feel Blackmore's choice to go All In on a proper set piece was a good one; the finale is action packed, gore soaked and memorable.
All in all? I congratulate Blackmore for offering more than it seemed he could on first reading and winning me over with this second instalment. I'm off to check out Breeds 3.
