Fantstic Dystopian Future Story Amazing Narration

Breaking the Beast: The Redemption of Joe Branch is written by Steven Bird. The narration is provided by Kevin Pierce. Breaking the Beast by Steven Bird is just a fantastic audiobook. This is a possible dystopian future where a one-world government has taken over. Joe Branch is a lucky survivor of a virus that killed a major part of the population off. As a Former DC Capital Police Officer, he is conscripted into the service of the new Global Authority. The same Global Authority that saved mankind with an antiviral cure that holds the virus at bay. The anti-virus needs to be given at regular intervals. Thus keeping the remaining population in check and killing off those undesirables and deplorables who do not get with the global agenda. The story holds the listener's attention with action, drama, and plenty of mystery as the conspiracy unfolds.
 
The narration by Kevin Pierce was once again just outstanding. Mr. Pierce always delivers the most fantastic audio performances. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Steven Bird delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

... A nice change from most in the genre..

I listen to quite a few post-apocalyptic books, and am glad when its Kevin Pierce. To me he is the voice of the Apocalypse, and if the SHTF in real life, its going to be his voice narrating my story.

This book was written as a self contained action story. Its not a to be continued serial novel, which is a nice change from most in the genre which tries to fill your mind of 'how to survive' type of scenarios explaining equipment used, etc. The pace was very fast, which is my only complaint, they sure endured a lot in a few days- I would be exhausted.

I enjoyed the story, and listened to the audiobook in one shot while traveling, I would purchase Steven's stories in the future.

A Good Guy becomes a Bad Guy to save the world...

Or... An officer of the law becomes a fugitive from justice in a race against time to save humanity. A futuristic, present-day survivalist war story.

Joe Branch awakens to find that his world is not quite what it seems, and when called upon to help set things right he embarks on a journey where all is lost before it's begun. His assignment isn't what he's lead to believe, and his teammates aren't who he thinks they are, but his skills, instinct, and a support team he didn't even know he had get him where he needs to be.

I LOVED this book. I was excited from throughout the entire thing. This woulda made a great series. I was disappointed to see there are no other books. But I am excited to see that Steven Bird has other books that look similar. I def plan on reading more from him.

A Decent Post Apocalyptic World...For Some

I really enjoyed the premise and world building in this book. There's a One World Alliance that basically falls into power by releasing a virus into the world that only they have control over and that's a pretty cool premise for a book, right? Sure...It is and Steven Bird does a fairly good job at fleshing out the world and his characters, but that's where it just stop being fun. The book reads stale an unemotional, there's just no hear to this audio book. This could also be the fault of Kevin Pierce's narration, which comes off as stoic and downright oddly unemotional at times, but it could also be that some of the lines and scenarios feel as if they were written by robots that have never actually experienced true human emotion. The story did have good pacing and some really action packed moments that kept you reading, but I was glad when the book was over as it seemed to drag on a few hours longer than it needed to.

This one just didn't do it for me and after another book that were just meh, I may be done listening to Pierce for a little while.

writer/narrator combo makes for a masterpiece

This book was two thumbs up. However, I was honestly really let down to find that the second book was not narrated by Kevin Pierce. I listened to the preview and unfortunately will not be purchasing the sequel. You're a great writer, but leave the narrating to Kevin Pierce. Not sure why you didn't have him do the second book, but you lost a sale from me and I'll never know what happens in book two until you get Kevin to read it. I know that's harsh but the narrator to me is 90% of whether or not I buy a book. ide read it myself if I had time, but I do busy work in a shop for 8-10 hours and audio books have become extremely important to getting through the day. long review short, I'll buy any book you write if you get Kevin Pierce read it. looks like you got a lot of other books that have all the material I love, but since they are not read by Kevin Pierce I won't be purchasing them. Hopefully you get the idea if you want to make more money and get your awesome talent to more listeners. blessings and thank you

The meds used in this book sound exactly what they inject in to my knees twice a year! I guess I’m immune now!
Kevin Pierce is my narrator crush so he can do no wrong. He is excellent and I just live his voice!
The story is great, loved it and loved how everything played out! I have listened to and read several books by this author and enjoyed them all. Starting another on by him today!

Absorbed Into Now Fighting One World Government

Kevin Pierce does his usual stellar job narrating an apocalyptic story about Joe Branch and Tamera Adams. Joe was a Washington DC policeman when a world wide pandemic strikes. He and other officers are quickly absorbed into the security force created by the elites of a one world order group. Joe, like those same others, doesn't at first know what's really going on. But when he does find out, he decides to do something about it, especially when his closest Supervisor comes up with a plan. After lots of action and the death of his friend, he meets Tamera, who helps him complete his mission. Now that the first step is done, it's on to the next mission in the next book. So excited to be starting that now.

best book from Bird so far!

fantastic book, Mr Bird! The best so far! I'm just sorry I've been carrying it around so long without listening to it.
