Summary

What if your long-lost sister holds the key to a family secret?

From the Sunday Times top 10 best-selling author of big Lies in a Small Town, a truly gripping novel of two sisters and a heart-wrenching secret.

Claire leads a busy, fulfilled and happy life, a life she wouldn't trade for anything...but that is about to change for ever.

When Claire fails to prevent a young woman's suicide, the incident seems to trigger something in her - forgotten images of a long-lost sister and a childhood she had always remembered as being close to perfection. Realising that this was not the case, Claire runs the risk of uncovering the dark secrets that are locked away in her memories.

Caught in a complex struggle between the present and past, between the man who wants to help her and the husband who cannot, Claire must discover the terrible truth for herself....

Hated it - waste of a credit

I have never not finished a book. This is my first. The narration is so robotic. Imagine Alexa saying ‘the hall, was bathed in sunlight’ It’s like she’s reading it so well that she forgot to look at the meaning of the words!
The story was rambling and dull. The book could have been half the length and still conveyed the same meaning and wasted less of everyone’s time.
If I can save one listener from the tedium of this audiobook, I’ll still be annoyed.

Disappointed

I love Diane Chamerlain, her books are so good, but this narrator sounds like a sat nav when she’s reading and it’s really off putting, can’t get into the story at all.

Not up to her usual standard!

I love diane chamberlain’s work, but I was disappointed by this. I suspect it was a bit forced, and she’s tried a bit too hard to have a more modern storyline. I found it a bit too far fetched and predictable, and I found the narrators ‘Claire’ voice a bit irritating.
