Summary
A reclusive author, Beryl Madison finds no safe haven from months of menacing phone calls - or the tormented feeling that her every move is being watched. When the writer is found slain in her own home, Kay Scarpetta pieces together the intricate forensic evidence - while unwittingly edging closer to a killer waiting in the shadows.

I'll try Kindle next time
Story is ok but it was totally over shadowed by the narration. The main character is fine but when she does the male detectives voice, it's absolutely grating and I almost gave up every time I heard him. Think I'll try these books on Kindle instead as I think the story is probably ok.

I found the narrators voice a little odd at first but I gradually loved it.

Great story completely let down by narrator
This is a great story.
Sadly, the narrator is poorly cast and, quite frankly, absolutely appalling. Her Scarpetta voice is bad. Her Marino is excrutiating. Who casts these people? I could have made a better job of it.
Sadly, the narration is that poor that I've given up for now. I will try and revisit it but I just couldn't continue.

Patricia Cornwell can be relied on for good story - and Lorelei King is an excellent narrator.

Narrator not to my liking
Iread this book some years ago and enjoyed the story. however I found the narration harsh and irritating. I don’t feel the voice matches the characters at all well. Sorry not for me - have stopped listening after the third chapter!

A good listen very good voice acting from the reader, just when you think you have worked it out then comes the twist.
