Summary

On a chilly November afternoon in 1998, a tearful 36-year-old man walked into the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department in Eureka, California, and confessed to something horrible.

"I hurt some people," he said. Inside his pocket was the ghastly proof of his statement. But there was more to Wayne Adam Ford than the trail of mangled victims he left behind. More, even, than the twisted predator inside, which drove him to increasingly perverse sexual appetites.

Pulitzer-nominated author Caitlin Rother draws on previously sealed testimony, interviews with the key players in the case, and the killer's shocking confession to explore the demons that drove a damaged man to his unspeakable crimes. Her book is a haunting, unforgettable true-life thriller.

Fascinating insight

A very interesting background into a serial killer…….we are so taken in with what the media wish to portray but this throughly explored the man behind the murders.
Agree, appalling narration, did consider not bothering with it initially but glad I saw it through to the end.

Very interesting.

I liked listening to this story and always wanted more when I pressed pause.
I really didn’t like the reader’s voice, it took me a while to get used to it. I would have given a 5* rating, but the voice was awful!

Body Parts.

A truly fascinating story. Very much worth a listen. I had not heard of this story, very glad I found this. Brilliant narration too.

Interesting book but appalling narration

This is a very interesting book but the narrator is terrible, I almost gave up on it. It is a shame because the content is well researched and well put together.

If it has been well narrated I would have given it 5 stars all round. Worth a listen if you can get beyond the flat and characterless voice. Or pick up a paper copy.

It was a free read but i gave up.

with 3hrs left i gave up and skipped to the end. the story was long winded and the narrator mono syllabic, she sounded bored and just narated the whole book as though she was reading a cereal pkt she had just read for the tenth time. i tried to make it to the end but couldn't.

Great book but...

The narrator is brutal, this would have gotten 5 stars and an excellent review from me but I couldn't get past the awful narration. Sometimes it sounded like a computer was reading parts, very stilted in other areas. The author deserved better as they put a tremendous effort into the writing. Well researched too.

a balanced story - with the strangest narrator

I knew a little about wayne ford before listening. it was part of the 'frse' listening so I gave ut a go.
I thought it was well researched as balanced as it could be, respectful of the victims and their families.
but
the narrator... she made an interesting book hard work... I became obsessed with listening to how tired she sometimes sounded and then the change after an edit.
I'd recommend if you can get through the voice.

Interesting read

Enjoyed the narrator, really liked how the story started and then went back over the life and background of the killer

Couldn’t get past the first 5 minutes

Awful robotic narration. Couldn’t tolerate it last 5 minutes. No idea if the book is worth a read, but the narrator wrecked it.
