Summary

Drew

What’s a retired rockstar vamp to do in a quaint, quiet English town?

Buy the only pub, make it a vampire haven, and flirt incessantly with my one and only employee, of course.

Nova

I hate everything about my new boss.

His face. His arrogant smile.

The way he acts like he knows everything.

I hate him so much I just want to...kiss him? What the hell?

Great performance that captures what I loved in the story

I loved this story of Drew a vampire/retired rocker/pub owner who sets his sights on his employee. This is an opposites attract romance in every way, as Nova is a quiet guy who just wants to work and live his ordinary life - at least he thinks he does until he meets Drew. The relationship is much gentler in its development than I expected and I enjoyed that. Something about the comfortable pub atmosphere carries through the book. If you'd like to dip your toes into paranormal m/m romance this would be a great place to start. The audio performance by Andrew Morrison captured what I loved when I read the story. It is warm and comfortable, drawing you into the lives of Drew and Nova, yet it also captures the heat in their relationship.

Nova and Drew…

When a vampire rockstar decides to retire, where should he go? It seemed fun that a centuries old vampire like Drew would find a small town a good one to live in and buy its only pub. The bartender Nova wasn’t too happy about it. Their feeding ways were so different yet their attraction was instant. Nova was not into men, so that was a challenge but Drew is anything if not persistent. He is a sweetheart and when the going gets tough, he is loyal and protective. I like that they both shared a past acquaintance and not a good one. That helps them bond. Great narration.

A Vampires haven.

MM, Contemporary, Paranormal, Romance. I found it difficult to listen to as for most of the story there was little to hold my interest. Not my favourite paranormal read unfortunately. There were some interesting parts but not enough of a story for my taste.

New to me Author

First time reading/listening to a book from this author, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have enjoyed this story a lot and the characters.

Excellent world-building, and the characters were well-formed. Drew and Nova are complete opposites, but both Vampires, there are lots of side characters that enhance the storyline. The pub in the village is the central point.
There is a lot of angst, heat and violence, and you get a complete HEA.

Again, a new to me narrator, Andrew Morrison, was a pleasure to listen to, clean and concise. I speed this narration up to 1.50 on Audible, which is usual for me.

Challenging listen

I always start an audiobook wanting to love it. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. This book was okay, but I didn’t love it. I’m struggling to say exactly what didn’t enamour it to me and I’m at a loss. Vampires are always interesting – the whole bleeder thing a little much. I liked that Nova didn’t go after live donors, but was intrigued Drew was able to find so many willing donors.

I think, in the end, it was Drew’s insistence of creating an all-vampire enclave. To do that, he had to buy out and force to leave dozens of people who’d lived happily amidst the vampires peacefully for years. I didn’t like him turfing people from their forever homes just because he wanted something for himself. I felt really bad for Clara who was forced from her home where she’d lived with her husband for years. All because that’s what Drew wanted. It was couched in nice terms, but it felt selfish and I understood why Nova wasn’t immediately in love with Drew.

The relationship worked, but felt forced. Yes, there’s attraction, but Drew’s actions made him a bit of a jerk and Nova lost plenty of friends when Drew forced them out (or bought their houses, which I suppose wasn’t forcing, but the people didn’t want to go, so it felt that way).

I don’t know whether I’ve talked myself into liking the book or justifying why it didn’t sit well with me. The writing was fine, and the narrator did a decent job differentiating between the American and British accents. Worth a listen, especially if you like vampires. Just not my cup of tea.

Engaging story, well narrated

Interesting storyline, intriguing set-up and pleasant characters made for an enjoyable listen. Most of the story was fairly low key - the angst came near the end when the pace of events suddenly went into over-drive. Riley is a new author to me and based on this I would be interested to read/listen to more stories.

I found the narrator very easy on the ear and will look for other books read by him.

Superb

A fantastic addition by Riley Long. Although audible does not show it as a series the story follows on from a Shot in the Dark, but it does not diminish it if listen to on its own. Fabulous characters to get to know and don’t want to leave when the story ends.
Andrew Morrison was a superstar with the narration. Hope there is more to come from Riley Long and Andrew Morrison.

Sweet and short!

This was the first time I've heard an audiobook narrated by Andrew Morrison and while it was mostly enjoyable, there were times when the character from London had no accent whatsoever, which I found distracting.

The overall story was sweet, featuring a vampire from Texas moving to England to get out of the spotlight until it was safe after faking his death. The other MC was a bartender in the town that he moved to, and wasn't thrilled with his taking over the bar and town.

Once they began to know each other, they were very sweet and genuine. The story progressed from there, the only angst happening in the last hour.

A Vampire Town

Blood on Tap takes a unique twist on the vampire romance tropes which I found quite interesting. Drew has lived many different lives in his centuries of existence, but now he and his clan are looking for somewhere new to settle down. Landing in a small town within the UK, the last thing Drew expects is to find love in the form of the very hunky vampire bartender, Nova. Nova and Drew were interesting characters with their own flaws and baggage, but they work it out in the end. This story was sweet and unique with a little bit of angst and action to push the plot forward to a happy ending.

The audiobook was narrated by Andrew Morrison. Andrew has a really nice voice that worked well for the narration and characters. I enjoyed listening to him immensely. The production could have been a little smoother, but it wasn't anything too noticeable, and it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the audiobook. If another book was to be produced in this series, I'd definitely grab it up.
