About this listen

They came for her family. Now she's coming for them. This nail-biting thriller introduces Glasgow's newest gangland mistress, Kerry Casey.

Kerry Casey thought she'd made a life away from the dirty dealings of her gangster family. Her father wanted to make them legit - her brother Mickey had other ideas, and now it's got him killed. When Mickey's funeral turns into a bloodbath at the hands of a group of anonymous shooters and Kerry's mother is killed in the crossfire, Kerry finds herself at the head of the Casey family, and desperate for revenge.

Running a crime empire is not a job she ever asked for, and not one she wants, but Kerry is determined to fulfil her father's wishes and make the Caseys go straight. First, though, she will find the men who murdered her mother, and she will take them down, no matter what it costs.

FAB U LOUS...

Action packed listen right from the start & that was it I was gripped!
Finished in two listens which I think says a lot!
Swift moving brilliantly written storyline with subplots & some great characters & superbly read too & I don’t normally enjoy female narration but this was great & gritty!
100% advise a listen/read.

Keeps you interested

Firstly, the narrator of this story is brilliant. Her different accents and man/woman voices really tell the story effectively.

Even though its a long book, it kept me gripped to the story and keen to find out what was happening. Good descriptions of each of the characters help to set a vision of them in your head. Definately worth getting into. I will be looking for the next in the series.

Reasonable

To much swearing in it for my liking, didn't think it was necessary to this book

Good story unconvincing narration

The story was quite good if slightly hard to fathom. It was predictable but well composed nonetheless and I began to invest in the protagonist.

The ending was too vanilla and a disappointment and left the text wide open for a follow up story. The characters were one dimensional.

The reader was accomplished and had a good mastery of accents, but she gave the impression that she was reading the text for the first time as it was slow and artificial.

Gripping

Had it been practical then I would have completed this audiobook in one sitting. Perfectly narrated the story is fast moving and believable as the Manchester/ Glasgow underworld storyline creates tension and excitement that you will be reluctant to pause.
