Summary
The future changes in the blink of an eye...or does it?
Miriam is a Saudi princess promised to another, a pawn in a political struggle that could shift the balance of power in the Middle East.
Seth is a certified genius with a head full of numbers, a life full of baggage, and an attitude born on the waves of the Pacific.
Cultures collide when they find themselves thrown together as fugitives in a high-stakes chase across Southern California. A growing attraction and a search for answers fuel their fight to survive...but with no sleep and a massive manhunt steadily closing in, their chances of surviving any future are razor thin.

Captivating
I didn't think I was going to like this book if I'm being honest. However. I preserved and I'm really glad I did. The pace of the story picks up quite well and it isn't long before you're plunging straight into the middle of what could be an international crisis. The characters were well thought out and the interaction between them was interesting and held my interest. The title is also appropriate given what happens. An act of kindness changes lives forever with consequences both good and bad being experienced between two big super powers at opposite ends of the line.
I thought the audio was clear and easy to follow the narrator has good modulation in his delivery.
The only criticism I have (and I would say this for most audiobooks); I think the narration would benefit from having the appropriate gender read the parts of members of the opposite sex. What I mean by this is even when a scene is serious I often find myself laughing at the attempts of the narrator to portray opposite genders. It's generally a problem I have with all single audiobook narrators. This is my own personal opinion.
In closing, I would recommend this audiobook it's interesting and captivating, clever with p!entry of suspense, drama, romance, danger, and a whole lot more besides.

Amazing, gripping story!
The book itself is absolutely amazing and gets all five stars! Excitement, international politics, adventure, danger, romance, philosophy, and faith all in one gripping story. The narrator does a good job capturing the voices, but his "s" sounds are piercing. Most problematically, though there is something wrong with chapters 38 and 39. Chapter 38 is repeated in chapter 39 and an entire chapter is missing because of it! This happens in the climax of the story and is a serious flaw in the recording!

Better story than THEOlogy
Really enjoyable book/story, for a fun listen great! Theologically interesting also. Seemed to conclude that “love wins” regardless of whose/what love it is. Subtly connected to Christ (“the greatest prophet”?) but not in the end. It’s a fine way to end a story... curious if it was “for” the story or “for” a subtle theological statement. Also raises questions about the nature of God as compared to Allah (cf., Do Christians Muslims and Jews Worship the Same God? edited by Campbell and Gnanakan). A worthy question to ask theologically and answer carefully. Significant results are born from the various conclusions (see also Delighting in the Trinity by M. Reeves).

Ted Dekker is a DJ
This book was like 10 other stories remixed into a newish one. The author is talented at compiling several predictable tropes into a cohesive story. the performance was very distracting any time Miriam spoke. the performer seemed to greatly struggle with the accent and as such removed any emotion from her point of view. Overall this story would be interesting and fun if it wasn't full of stuff I have read or seen in a hundred stories before.
