A great romance amidst an intriguing mystery

I have to admit to having a love, hate relationship with this book. It was an achingly sweet romance. There was so much emotion in this story that I really connected with. It brought tears to my eyes, made me laugh, made me cry and made me want to yell at the main characters for being thick headed. I really enjoyed the storyline. It was well written and engaging. I did struggle a bit with the narration. The narrator's style just didn't seem to fit with the style of the book. That's just my opinion though. Overall I throughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others!

Love is Blind?

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense featuring a great cast of characters and sympathetic narration by Meghan.

Fair warning, although their is a HEA ending, the overlying plot does not conclude in this book.

Bk 1 Blind Love

(Detective) Joey returns home from Seattle for his murdered brothers funeral, only to be met with the family drama he left behind and more questions about when he's going to return than he cares to field. All his instinct tell him there is something more than meets the eye to all the coincidents happening in town. Joey also find it unusual that all the police investigations are either not complete or over looked. It doesn't help that the small town force is inadequately trained and the communications systems don't function. Lastly, the biggest hurdle he has yet to face is his attraction to Mara, a blind beauty that he fell in love with and never forgot.
As Joey asks questions, Mara's life is in jeopardy and threatened but they don't know who or why. As Mara and Joey attempt to reconnect they both remember love lost, hurt feelings and don't know how to get past it. Mara wants to be independent in spite of her blindness but someone keeps stalking her and the feeling is sinister.
I really enjoyed this story, however there are too many lose ends and no HEA. The investigation into Joey's brother's murder, Mara's stalker, and more, all left unsolved. The remaining 3 other books in this series have not been turned into audiobooks yet.
Meghan Kelly's narration immures you into the story making you appreciate Mara's blindness and the challenges she sometimes faces, all the while Meghan helps you empathize the way Joey the strong silent type man thinks as he helps empower and encourage Mara, and keep her safe.

Sensitive and wonderful second chance love

I loved this story but it did take a while to warm up at the beginning, I loved Mara's attitude which felt real and Joey's understanding and way of supporting her was truly beautiful! I was expecting a bit more action/suspense and we didn't get full closure over this but then that makes it more understandable with the ending I suppose (don't want to add spoilers!). Meghan Kelly did a great job as always narrating her way through this with dual perspectives from both Mara and Joey. Looking forward to more stories from Elkridge! #audiobookobsession

Beautifully Realistic

This was such a beautiful and wholesome story. It didn't gloss over how nasty people can be with people with disabilities. Struggling from some disabilities myself, I can appreciate that fact greatly. It gets old having people acting like people aren't judged and looked down on for having a disability. But I digress. The story was so beautiful. I enjoyed it so much. If I could have listened to it in one sitting, I would have. Darn having things to do!

I do have a small dislike with this, but I'm not sure how to hand it without giving spoilers. I'm a little disappointed that a part of the story was left unsolved. This is a series, but it seems like a standalone series. I'm hoping I'm wrong. I'm hoping there will be answers that I'm looking for. We shall see. Other than that, I had no problems with the book. I enjoyed it very much. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I may listen to them as well since the narrator was so great!

Love and Mystery

I love a good story with a good balance of romance and suspense. The characters were great and the narrator did a great job with both. I really loved the lead female character because I loved how strong she is but it's not in a pushy loud kind of way. The story was do good and ended cliffhanger so I can't wait to listen to the second book!!!

Blinded

Reviewed: 04-02-19

Both the main characters have sad backgrounds of things the must overcome as well as Joey having to deal with the death of his brother. While coming home Joey sees Mara for the first time in ten years and he finds he still has the same feelings for her that he did before he left. With this visit he is able to see where being with Mara will take him as well as see his family and try to solve his brother’s murder. The book wraps up nicely but still has me looking forward to the next in the series.
Narration was fantastic as well. I love the way Meghan’s voice is so versatile and can do voices so well.

Second Chance Done Right

This was my introduction to Lyz Kelley and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was nice to get the perspective of both Joey and Mara. The pace of the story was nice and even, flowed very well. Meghan Kelly's narration was spot on! What initially drew me to this story was 1. Meghan Kelly! 2. the synopsis was great and drew me in. The characters of Joey and Mara were great and worked very well together. Second chance romances are slowly becoming one of my favorite tropes and Lyz Kelley has done a spectacular job.
