About this listen
The ninth novel in Anne Rice's best-selling Vampire Chronicles. Mystery and magic combine in this masterpiece from the mistress of the vampire genre.
A terrifying drama of bloodlust and betrayal is unravelling within the Blackwood Farm family. Their grand Southern mansion, set among dark cypress swamps in Louisiana, harbours terrible blood-stained secrets.
Heir to them all is the young, rash and beautiful Quinn Blackwood. But he is being controlled an evil spirit, a demon who could destroy him and others. Only the unearthly power of the vampire Lestat, combined with the earthly powers of the ubiquitous Mayfair witch clan, can save Quinn from himself and rescue the doomed girl he loves from her own mortality.
Shocking, savage and richly erotic, this novel brings us Anne Rice at her most powerfully disturbing. Here are vampire and witches, men and women, demons and doppelgangers, caught up in a maelstrom of death and destruction, blood and fire, cruelty and fate.

This one was good!
I really enjoyed this one! It was the first one in this series so far that actually frightened me a little bit. Vampires I like but I don't especially find them scary, ghosts on the other hand are something that really do scare the hell out of me! I really liked Tarquinn Blackwood, and I was happy that Lestat was back in this one too, and of course Mona was very likeable. The narrator was good as well.

I so enjoyed this book.
I have never been a fan of changing narrators and I really thought I wouldn't enjoy this book as a result in change.....But i think the narrator did an absolute fantastic job and really read this story well. As most characters are new it totally went with the story. the book itself was a refreshing new avenue and I think I finished the book in 5 days I was that into it. fantastic job from both author (as usual) and narrator, thankyou so much. Now onto the next book! (by the same narrator I think) :)

wonderful audio for fans of the Vampire series
the narrator truly captured the imagination of the books. I was amused, and delighted. I haven't read any A Rice books for over a decade. so it was thrilling as it was a submersive experience. thought I had forgotten how over descriptive everything is. nonetherless, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
