Summary

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Belle, from the number one best-selling author, Lesley Pearse. She witnessed a murder - and now her life is in danger. Fifteen year-old Belle, though raised in a London brothel, is an innocent. But when she witnesses one of the girls brutally strangled by a client, she is cast into a cruel, heartless world. Snatched from the streets and sold into prostitution, she is made a courtesan in New Orleans. At the mercy of desperate men who crave her beauty and will do anything to keep her, Belle's dreams of home, family and freedom appear futile. Are Belle's courage and spirit strong enough to help her escape? And what will await her at the end of the long, dangerous journey home? Lesley Pearse, author of number one bestseller Stolen, has done it again with Belle - a heroine for our times: a strong woman trying to be good in a world gone bad.

Gripping, massive plot, superbly developed characters

Belle is a superb book which takes you on a journey capturing the lives of many characters that Belle comes into contact with. The historical element for when the story is set is vividly portrayed so one is under no illusion about life in London in the early 1900's.

Revealing

I would recommend this book to a friend. It was so interesting giving an insight to the life of the late 1880’s and early 1900’s. The deprivation and squalor that people lived with, some every day of their lives. Found it very hard to stop listening and so sad when it ended.

Truly wonderful

This really is a fabulous story, it’s harrowing in places but a great example of how good can overcome evil eventually. I loved it!

My kind of Girl

Read this book some years ago and having got the credit spare thought to buy the Audible version. The trials and tribulations of Belle was nail biting from the very start ........ I was happy with her and sobbed with her. She had all the fire in her that I could only have hoped for! Belle was a survivor from the very start and this was a book I could not put down .... the audio version .......well I slept with headphones on! Belle and her story is an inspirational story that shows how good always gets the better of evil.

Fantastic!

Wow, I loved this book! Not for the faint hearted as pretty graphic but written in such a brilliant way that you just take it all in your stride. Do listen, I’m straight on to the sequel.
