Love Hearing a Sports Series with a Twist

Most hockey romance series are essentially all the same in the end. Hockey player swears he’ll never settle down but then meets The.One and suddenly everything changes.

So for me, it’s what happens around this that makes me decide whether it’s a series I’ll follow or not. This one definitely has a twist I never expected, but quickly appreciated. Not to say I think everyone should have mass deaths. Only that authors that can take a story to such an unexpected direction, while handling it with dignity definitely wins my vote.

I love to read, but several years ago I had to admit to myself that to continue reading, (ADHD + Narcolepsy = a short attention span that falls asleep before finishing a page of entertainment reading) I would have to go audio exclusive. Weeding thru the horrible narrations out there from authors trying to go audio on the cheap can be such a headache!! Take it from me, going cheap on narration is basically throwing your money away.

I’ve been a fan of Sawyer Bennett for some time and list her among my go to authors if I’m needing a light hearted read (or listen in my case). I can always count on her to tell me a great story with excellent narrators. That’s exactly what she did here. Loved the story and the narration was very well done.

Beautiful Story!

This is the first book in the Pittsburgh Titans series, a spin-off of the Arizona Vengeance series. This series is interconnected with the Jameson Force Security series. The story starts where the last book in the Arizona Vengeance series ended. This first installment is great! I loved Baden and Sophie's emotional story! Baden is such a great guy, caring, and protective. Sophie is beautiful, strong, and determined. They are perfect together. I liked the amazing characters, and the slow burn romance. The storyline is emotional, and captivating. Aiden Snow and Lessa Lamb did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it! Now, I am looking forward to listening to Stone, the next book in the series.

Man’s planing? Really?

This was a pretty good story and a nice start to a new series. I did grown when they used the phrase man’s planing. It is not a bad thing for someone to explain to another person how something works when that other person doesn’t know how it works. If the person explaining things just happens to be a man and the other happens to be a woman that makes no difference. It is not a bad thing if a man knows something that a woman doesn’t and he explains it to her just like it is not a bad thing if the reverse happens. So I really wish this kind of stuff would stop. I also felt like the ending was very sudden. It just seem to come out of nowhere and that was it like the author did not really know how to end this one. But again overall I think it’s a good start to the series and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Baden

I knew this one was going to be good but I didn't know it was going to be this good. I finished the kindle book over the weekend and then the audio hit my email this morning and that started that one almost immediately and had it finished by evening. LOVED Baden and Sophie so much! Their story started months ago when Sophie was in Phoenix for work and was attacked by 3 men and Baden came to her rescue. She was able to get away while he was savaged injured, stabbed and beaten to within an inch of his life. He was left paralyzed and it is a miracle he can even walk. Now, after the Pittsburgh Titans lost their entire team including all their support staff to a plane crash he has been offered the goalie coach position. Sophie lives in Pittsburgh and when Baden decides to visit her to find out how she is doing she is surprised he is doing so well. They immediately develop a friendship and bond that only grows. Watching these two learn to live together and support each other was so beautiful. Also, watching this new team come together and going to be something. This author described them as the Bad News Bears and at times it seems that way. It is going to be fun to get to know them.

Awesome start to a new series

The author does another amazing hockey story. She’s one of my favorite authors, when it comes to sports romance. Definitely recommend.

The narrators were the perfect choice.

Baden

So much raw emotion...all handled so beautifully...

I have been waiting for this story for a long time. Waiting for these two to come together - and it was better than I ever thought.

There is so much that goes into this story, with Baden and Sophie's backstory, paired with the tragic accident that starts off the Titans series. Watching Baden and Sophie grow together, helping each other along the way, becoming closer and closer...waiting on that moment where it all comes together....gahhh! So much goodness.

Great Read

Baden (Pittsburgh Titans #1) was a great read by Sawyer Bennett. Baden Oulett suffers a horrific injury that threatens to end his hockey career. He is a part of the defending cup champion, Arizona Vengeance, and is living out his dream. After one split decision destroyed everything, he is spending his days in rehab and physical therapy in order to walk again. He is presented with the opportunity to coach the Pittsburgh Titans. He suffered physical injuries when he rescued Sophie Winters, and hers are wounds that can’t be seen. It has lead her to become withdrawn from the world due to fear and guilt. He is determined to be Sophie’s friend and not let her face her demons alone.

Perfection

I am in love with the narration of this book and how it was brought to life The narrators placed the most perfect emotion into the characters and brought these characters so much justice.

The story itself is one I had been hoping would be written and Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint. From Baydens tragic accident when he saved Sophie and how their relationship evolved made my heart melt. Seeing Sophie fight through her fears and panic and then coming together with Bayden - oh swoon. He was a delightful character with so much strength, his care and concern and even touching on his insecurities. Their story is one for all the hearts and feels. .

Great new series

Baden rescues a stranger from attackers who might rape and even murder her. Sophie has gone to visit Baden once when he was in the hospital. At that time, he was paralyzed from the waist down. Her guilt for what happened to him is overwhelming. She has PTSD from the attack and can't leave her house without having panic attacks. Baden pushes himself to recover and after he has surgery, he's recovered enough to have a fairly normal life, just not his career as a hockey goalie. He ends up getting the goalie coach position on the Philadelphia Flyers, whose team had most of its players killed in a plane accident. Baden meets Sophie and they forge a friendship. I really loved seeing how Sawyer Bennett brought the story together. As the team rebuilds, we'll see the effect the tragic accident has on the team. I'm looking forward to this whole series. Aiden Snow and Lessa Lamb were great narrators.

A great start to a new Hockey series!

This is planned to be a more emotional series and book 1 did not disappoint. Baden was attacked while being a good Samaritan and saving Sophie from getting mugged and worse. He is recovering, but it is unlikely he will be able to continue as a hockey goalie. Turns out the Pittsburgh Titans has been hit by tragedy and offer for Baden to become their new goalie coach. Coincidentally Sophie lives in Pittsburgh so when he arrives for his new job he checks up on her. She is still struggling with her recovery and Baden takes on the role of her protector to help her get her life back. A very sweet story and well read in dual narration. For me it seemes like the female parts were read at a faster pace than the male portion which was a bit distracting, bit otherwise it was a great audio book.
