When 79-year-old Arthur Edwards gathers his family together to share some important news, no one is prepared for the bombshell he drops: he's gay, and after a lifetime in the closet, he's finally ready to come out.

Arthur's 21-year-old grandson, Teddy, has a secret of his own: he's also gay, and developing serious feelings for his colleague Ben. But Teddy doesn't feel ready to come out yet – especially when Arthur’s announcement causes shockwaves in the family.

Arthur and Teddy have always been close, and now they must navigate first loves, heartbreak, and finding their place in their community. But can they – and their family – learn to accept who they truly are?

Lighthearted, uplifting entertainment

Sure the voice acting can be a bit ropey at times, but overall don’t let it detract from what a lovely story this is. Very easy listening

Fantastic book, poor voice acting

A lovely, heartfelt story but the voice acting just didn’t do it justice. Not awful just not as good as it should be

Loved this

An ambitious but winning gay romance for these times. It fills a void in gay literature and special thanks to the narrators for their empathic reading.

A nice easy listen (mostly)

I enjoyed the book. It took a while to finish it as I haven’t been doing as much walking of late.
I wasn’t keen on Teddy’s narration especially when Shackeel was speaking but it didn’t spoil the story. It’s good to have a book of this genre more in the mainstream. Recommend

Ruined by the narrator

I’m afraid Caius Nicholas is the worst narrator I have ever had to listen to. He invariably emphasises the wrong word and his attempts at accents are excruciating. I would advise Audible to re-record the sections he narrates because the book has a clever twist on a familiar story.

Not for me

Gave up on this book purely because I couldn't stand listening to the narration. Arthur was OK but Teddy just grated on me.
