Awful narrator!
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It's a fantastic book, one of my favorites, the whole series is, but this narrator is awful and I'm really struggling to keep listening.
What didn’t you like about Mary Sarah’s performance?
Really struggling to get through the book with this narrator. It's one of my favorite books but I just can't listen to it with this narrator, she's given Anne a weird, almost posh, pinched sounding voice, she puts the emphasis on odd places in a sentence, its just awful narration.

Most annoying fictional child character... Ever!
The sequel is set immediately after the events of Anne of Green Gables. Anne takes over as teacher in the village school and this book is an enjoyable look at her first few years. It introduces several new characters that Anne befriends and helps. Marilla Cuthbert is left looking after Davy and Dora when a relative dies and Davy serves to get up to the same high jinks as Anne did in the first book. But, he does it without the innocence and charm of Anne, he is the most annoying child in English Literature. A spoilt brat probably with ADHD. I felt like switching the book of when e ever he appeared. But, I persevered and was glad I did. I'm not sure if I need to know what happens to Anne Shirley next. A fine reading by Mary Sarah and well worth the 95p that I paid.

Still Delighful
Any additional comments?
Amazing story, with all the innocence and attraction of Anne of Green Gables and still also able to give you that wonderful feel good factor. I loved every minute of it. It's an excellent pick me up. Mary Sarah's narration was very good, it was nice that she had also narrated Anne of Green Gables so it was quite easy to continue straight into this audio book. In a couple of places there was background noise, also a couple of times lines were repeated. But for what I paid for this I'm not complaining, it was of good quality and far better than the ones in the public domain. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Anne Of Avonlea read by Mary Sarah
Following on from "Anne of Green Gables", "Anne Of Avonlea" is the next enjoyable instalment that follows Anne Shirley from her own school days to becoming a teacher herself & all the different things that happen to her & the people she meets. A very enjoyable audio book read by Mary Sarah. All the characters come to life through the very god reading of Mary Sarah.

Narrator needs to go
I love this series, but the narrator's voice is beyond aggravating. It's way too posh. I can't differentiate the characters either because they all sound the same. I couldn't even get past chapter one. I only gave the story a two because I simply couldn't get through it with the narrator's ridiculous annunciation.

Loved the story but the narrators voice is odd!
Spoilt by the narrator I am afraid.
Very odd voice, that I don't think is a natural for this sort of thing!
Sorry!

Didn’t like the narrator
She put many strange breaks and stresses into sentences. Like this: “Jack and Jill went up. The hill to fetch a pail of water.”

Please, Rachel McAdams?
I had just listened to Rachel McAdams read Anne of Green Gables, which is exquisitely done, and needed to listen to this one for a book club. I couldn’t. The narrator has entirely the wrong voice for this story. It might be great for other stories, but for this one it was just grating. So, please, can Rachel McAdams finish off the series for us? Please?

Annoying
The narration by Mary Sarah is so annoying that it spoils a lovely book. I love this series and thoroughly enjoyed book one narrated by Rachael McAdams but can't stand listening to this one. The voice sounds far too old for 16 year old Anne, the accent is entirely inappropriate for the location of the books and there is no sign of Anne's joyous and lively personality. Mary Sarah's voice is more suited to a prim, elderly spinster.

Wish Mary Sarah would read more of the Anne series
Love Mary Sarah narrating the Anne books. A pleasure listening to the happenings in Avonlea and so disappointed she hasn't read more of the books.

OK but not as good as the first
The story just wasn't as good as the first book but Mary Sarah's narration is still wonderful. My primary complaint is that she has apparently not narrated any more of this series so I'll have to flip a coin to see which of the several different editions of the next books I'll be buying. But putting my annoyances aside, I'm still enjoying this series in spite of (or perhaps because of) it's archaic language and culture.

Pathetic narration !
Anne series is one of my family favorites - but this narrator is pathetic. Reader clips and chops phrases and sentences - hard to listen. Absolutely NO scope of imagination!

Horrid Narration
This narration was so wretched that I purchased a different version after listening to about two hours of it. No differentiation between different character's voices, weird rhythm/phrasing, and the only audiobook I've encountered that has errors in it (she misread a phrase and read it again but they didn't erase the mistake). Save your dollar and get a better version!!!
