Summary

Unlike the rest of her family, Maggie Walsh has always done the right thing - that is until the day she leaves her husband and takes refuge with her friend Emily, a screenwriter in Los Angeles - a city where even the palm trees are skinny. Soon Maggie's doing all sorts of things she's never done before, such as wearing sunglasses in the shower and pitching scripts to studio executives - and meeting a mysterious man named Troy, who is so non-stick he's known as Human Teflon.

Life lessons learned

I enjoyed the story about Maggie trying to find herself after a break up . I loved her way of thinking. eventhough her sister Helen just have the best sense of humor. she had me laughing out loud. My only complaint is the narrator could have been younger. Maggie is in her thirties but the narrator's voice made her sound much older.

Entertaining

If you’re after an easy lighthearted read then this book will tick that box. Characters are very likeable, some amusing observations on LA life and I did laugh out loud in places.

Laugh out Loud

This is the third Marian Keyes book I have listened to and Angels is definitely my favourite. A good story, fabulous narration and laugh out loud humour. Thoroughly recommend.

Very funny LA observations...

If you could sum up Angels in three words, what would they be?

Funny - clear - thoughtful

What did you like best about this story?

Observations about LA life

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Brought this as I was going to LA for a few weeks and thought it would be fun to listen to a story based in the city I was visiting. It was continually funny, thoughtful and showed the real differences between America and Ireland/Uk.... thank you for a great listen

The narrator is terrible at American accents.

I love Marian Keynes, and whilst Angel's isn't my favourite of her novels, I have a fondness for it. I loved Gerri Halligan's narration of Rachel's Holiday, but her terrible American accents (which sounded the same for every character) were really off putting.

Wonderful such warm and funny characters!

Loved every moment especially with Mammie Walsh and her quirky meaningful wisdom! Can’t wait to read the next in the series!
