Summary

The ninth book in the bestselling Chronicles of St Mary's series which follows a group of tea-soaked disaster magnets as they hurtle their way around History. If you love Jasper Fforde or Ben Aaronovitch, you won't be able to resist Jodi Taylor.

They say you shouldn't push your luck. Max gives her own luck a massive shove every day - and it's only a matter of time until luck pushes back...

January 1536 - the day of Henry VIII's infamous jousting accident. Historians from St Mary's are there in force, recording and documenting. And, arguing - obviously.

A chance meeting between Max and the Time Police leads to a plan of action. And, it's one that will have very serious consequences - especially for Max. Her private life is already more than a little rocky. But with Leon recovering and Matthew safe in the future there will never be a better opportunity to bring down Clive Ronan, once and for all.

From Tudor England to the burning city of Persepolis - and from a medieval siege to a very nasty case of 19th century incarceration - Max is determined that this time, he will not escape.

Another fabulous St. Mary'd romp through time

I'd want to kill them if I worked with them but the resident's of St Mary's never fail to entertain.

Another great book from Jodi Taylor

One of the things I like about Jodi’s writing is that she can write tension into a story. Even though I was sure that a rescue would happen the feelings of despair at being stranded in the past and the adjustment to life in mediaeval times was well done and there was always a feeling of “is this is?” for the character.

The book perhaps doesn’t stand alone as well as some of the series but is a great addition to the Chronicles of St Mary’s.

Max is brilliant!

Over the lockdown I have listened to all of the st mary's chronicles - I could not wait to get to bed to listen to these audio books whist doing my knitting. Great thrilling story lines, humour, & very well narrated by Zara Ramm. Cannot wait for more by Jodie Taylor. Max has become my new fictional heroine MORE PLEASE MS TAYLOR

Excellent Installment

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It took a slightly different turn, yes there were the usual St Mary's disasters but the time was also taken to explore outside of St Mary's too.

I've given the story just 4 stars however because I do feel it's about time the one particular story arc needs to be brought to an end.

However I have to say the ending is a real cliffhanger...

Book 9 and St Mary's mayhem continues

Firstly I did enjoy this book, however I do not like being left waiting for the next book to tie up the threads.
Jodi you are better than that, to get people to like and continue the series.

Secondly, do not ever ever substitute Zara Ramm for another narrator in this series. It will utterly destroy the series, eg Removing Steven Pacey from narrating the Dept Q series by Jussi Adler Olsen made it a disaster for the ratings.

I especially liked being at medieval St Marys, also "the Lord" love interest/ twist. The pantomine evil Ronan strikes again, will the time police ever catch him.
Please tell me whats going on with the time travelling tea pot duo, there is more to these two than meets the eye.

All a jolly hockey sticks good listen

emotional roller coaster

Something has to give, we got all the emotions again despite a promise she'd go easy on us. Robin has to finally get caught.

The best yet!

These books just keep getting better. Thank you Jodi - I now know more about history than ever before. I am left with an insatiable appetite for history as well as everything else you have written! My ideal stories are so beautifully narrated by Zara...I can lose myself in ... contemporary time... whenever I want.
