Summary
Do you eat when you're not hungry? Or when you're angry and upset? Do you eat to control your feelings?
Allen Carr's Easyway is the most successful self-help stop-smoking method of all time. It has helped millions of smokers all over the world to quit and has since been used to treat other addictions such as drinking and gambling. Allen Carr's Easyway method works by unravelling the brainwashing that leads us to desire the very thing that is harming us, meaning that we are freed from the addiction rather than merely restricting our behaviour.
The Easyway method has now been applied to the problem of emotional eating. With Allen Carr's Easyway method, you can eat as much of your favourite foods as you want, whenever you want, as often as you want and be the exact weight you want to be, without dieting, special exercise, using willpower or feeling deprived.
Do you find that difficult to believe? Listen to this audiobook.

Should be called Quit Eating Junk Food
I got this as am a Yo yo dieter who craves bad food and thinks of it as a treat. I was deprived of food as a child.
This talks constantly about junk food which I don't eat and never eat takeaway food. I have an emotional attachment with food which I thought this would address and it doesn't.
It also talks about smoking and alcohol both of which I have given up in the past, problem is you don't die if you give them up, but you do if you stop eating.
The tips are basically mindful eating.

Changed my life
I started this book in December 22nd after a friend recommended it. I was skeptical but thought I’d listen to it. Over night my relationship with food changed. Over Xmas I didn’t comfort eat. I didn’t eat any treats, cakes or even mince pies. And never felt deprived or reliant on will power! It just seemed normal not to want it.
For anyone who feels shackled to comfort food; this is the book to release you. Be open minded. Listen to it all. Don’t skip any. And don’t try and combine plans and you will love it!

I get it, but still
Why the constant preaching on smoking? I get the analogy but it's waaaay overused. Also, what's the point of the witchy narration? She sounds like a smoker, too - which is weird when she speaks about smoking 99% of the time. Half of the book is mainly "Easy Way is better than x" --- well then, prove it, stop comparing and talk about your damn Way. Good-ish info but all of these things made me want to scream

I don’t understand why this brand is popular
I find the narrator irritating, the content slightly patronizing, yes it is common sense and perhaps I was expecting more but it’s fair to say I struggle to listen to this/ my perspective hasn’t expanded or changed /I don’t understand the urge to overeat better and I’m itching to return this title

Where’s the advice?
There is only really one message in this book: “you have been brainwashed to think junk food is pleasurable, but it isn’t, so stop eating it and you’ll feel better”. That it, repeated over and over for 6 hours.
The book constantly dangles the “easy way method” as the solution to stopping yourself from emotional eating but I’m 4 hours in and I still have no idea what the “easy way method” actually is. There’s no practical advice for overcoming your impulses or urges simply because the book says “when you realise you’ve been brainwashed, you won’t have any urges”. Okay…?! It’s the equivalent of just saying the opposite to whatever someone says. “I feel sad” “no you don’t” “wow I’m fixed”.
The book also begins by apologising for comparing emotional eating to drug abuse but promises that it will only be lightly used to illustrate a point. Not true. It actually frequently refers to heroin addiction as a comparison to food addiction.
Weird book.

Very underwhelmed
Thought provoking but ultimately very repetitive and ineffective. I am very open-minded and keen to lose weight but this didn't really have much of an impact on my mindset. quite disappointed.

I can't believe how quickly it changed my thinking
It's one of those books I think everyone should read. The lessons within it are so obvious but I had never looked at my eating in that way before. I haven't finished it yet but already my whole approach to eating has changed because it completely makes sense. It's like a light bulb moment which not only makes you reflect on your own way of living but you start to see what others are doing too. I'm at risk of becoming a preacher of his ideas because they are so life changing ( I'm currently resisting as I don't want to be THAT person ha ha ha).
My only negative feedback really is that I think I would have preferred a man to narrate it, and just because (this maybe strange) I wanted to feel more like the author talking to me about his experiences as this this would make it more effective in my head, rather than me being aware that it was diluted but this second person reading his words.
