Summary

From the author of New York Times bestseller, A Flicker in the Dark, comes a gripping and atmospheric thriller about one woman’s search for the truth

Today is day 364.

364 days since my last night of sleep.

364 days since my son, Mason, was taken from his bed.

The police have stopped looking. My husband wants me to move on.

But I need to keep his story alive.

Someone knows what happened to my son.

And I’m going to find them.

It’s been a year since Isabelle Drake’s son, Mason, disappeared from his bedroom. Since then, she hasn’t had a full night of sleep. Everyone else has moved on – the detectives, the press, her husband – but she can’t rest until she knows the truth.

Teaming up with true crime podcaster Waylon Spencer, Isabelle investigates her son’s case. But Waylon has motives of his own and as long-forgotten memories of Isabelle’s past resurface, doubt begins to cloud her sleepless nights.

What happened to Mason Drake?

What if the past is better left buried?

Critic reviews

"Pacey and sinister, All the Dangerous Things has a palpable tension that keeps the pages turning." (Karin Slaughter, Sunday Times and internationally bestselling author)

"A sensational thriller set in the deep south. Dark, engrossing and atmospheric. Loved the podcast angle. Relatable, layered characters and sublime tension. Excellent." (Will Dean, author of The Last Thing to Burn)

"Brilliant! With a sure hand, the author draws us inexorably into a harrowing blend of gothic storytelling and psychological suspense, dishing up new shocks every time another layer is peeled back. I was as sleepless as our protagonist—since I had to finish this marvelous thriller in one sitting!" (Jeffery Deaver, author of Hunting Time)

Another great book.

After reading Flickr in the darkness. I couldn’t wait to listen to this one. And I wasn’t disappointed. First off the narrator was good. Good speed , no annoying voices and easy to listen to.
The story wasn’t as fast paced as I would have liked but it kept me hooked right up until the end. So well written and a really good ending. Would recommend this.

It was ok

A bit meh
It was ok, not great, fairly obvious, no shocks - just an ok book to pass the time.

Not a fan of the narrator’s voices for different characters

I read this as part of a book club and while everybody else thought it was 5*, I just wasn’t blown away. I also struggled with the narrator doing a deeper voice for the men. It completely pulled me out of the story

Beautifully Crafted Thriller - kept me engaged throughout!

Initially, I wasn’t keen on the narrator’s voice, but its eerie quality really added to the tension throughout this book. Every chapter unravelled a little more evidence and the characters were very cleverly written in. I can’t wait to read more from Stacy Willingham now.
