About this listen
Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home and a successful media career. A director of several companies & at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful & functioning professional man in spite of a ‘2 bottles of wine a night’ drinking habit. For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed.
He tried countless ways to cut down; attempting ‘dry months’, banning himself from drinking spirits, only drinking at the weekend & special occasions (and found that it is amazing how even the smallest of event can suddenly become ‘special’). All these 'will power' based attempts to stop drinking failed (exactly as they were destined to do). Slowly he discovered the truth about alcohol addiction & one by one all the lies he had previously believed started to fall apart. For the first time he noticed that he genuinely didn’t want to drink anymore. In this book he will lead you though the same amazing process.
Thousands of people just like you have quit drinking using this method and their feedback and advice has gone into creating this extended and updated edition. The Craig Beck stop drinking method is unique...

Literally a life saver
Well structured and presented. Hypnotherapy part very helpful. Resets what I thought about alcohol for the last 20 odd years.

4 years ago, this book changed my life. Thank you.
What made the experience of listening to Alcohol Lied To Me - Extended Edition the most enjoyable?
The results. I can't say I bought this book to pass the time, I bought it because I was looking for information to help me do something. I found everything I needed in the recording, and the most enjoyable part of that is the result which has led me to come back 4 years later to write this review to say thank you to Mr Beck.
Who was your favorite character and why?
There is only one character really, one who you will listen to and trust and learn from.
Have you listened to any of Craig Beck’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have, but this is by far the best in my opinion.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I found it on a whole very informative, motivational and moving, but couldn't single out a single moment. It is some years since I last listened to it though last though!
Any additional comments?
Yes. If you are anything like me, sometimes you reluctantly might need to find help from someone to achieve something. In this book I found the perfect tools to do the job I needed to do. If you are considering buying this book, then possibly you have been looking to do the same thing I was, 4 very happy, productive years ago. You too will find everything you need in this book. I've come back all this time later because I really would like to thank Mr Beck for the help this book gave me (and friends of mine who have also used the information to help stop drinking).I hope this review makes sense, I've never felt compelled to write one before, but credit where credit is due - thank you Mr Beck.

Working for me!!!
Would you consider the audio edition of Alcohol Lied To Me - Extended Edition to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version, yet.
Any additional comments?
I listened to this book on my way to night shift on Monday (2.5 hrs to work and the same return), by the time I got home Tuesday morning I was a non drinker. I have no stress from stopping my daily habit and feel great, I just have to pinch myself to confirm this is real. I did use the Alan Carr book a few years ago and quit for a couple of weeks but this book has worked straight away and I honesty cannot imagine going back to the bad old days of drinking. I have listened to the book daily on my commute which probably helps, most people would not have the time for this, but while I am driving its no problem and Craig tells his story in an engaging manner. Highly recommended.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Thank you Craig. Your book has triggered something in me that I didn't think was possible. I can now see a bright and sober future ahead of me. You have hit the nail well and truly on the head!
I listened to this book in conjunction with This naked mind, Annie Grace. Both books are outstanding, truly inspirational!

Useful but too 'sales pitch'
There's a lot of useful insight in here, however I found the author's style grating and a little patronising and smug in tone. Sometimes felt like I was in the board room listening to a sales pitch of an over priced marketing agency or zealous preacher. Also found the presentation music interludes a bit cringe. Alcohol Explained is a far superior listen / read if you are struggling to pick one. If I had spotted that the author had written books on how to 'pick up women' before purchasing i wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole. Vom

You lost me at meridian points.
Starting with the positives. Craig reads the book well and with more emotion than any other audiobook I’ve listened to. It’s obvious he is passionate about the subject and it comes across.
He also makes a compelling argument about why a person should abstain from the ‘poison’ rather than moderate.
Moving on to negatives.
This did feel like a bit of a sales pitch often referring to other books of his that were available to purchase. I’ve never before listened to an audiobook that spends so much time talking about other books you can listen to.
I wrote down the list of supplements Craig recommended as he sounded convincing when he spoke about the science of why these were beneficial to someone giving up alcohol.
However, my trust in his grasp of science was shattered when he advised the use of TFT (Thought Field Therapy. In short, tapping meridian points). He then stated a simple Google search would show the wealth of evidence to show how successful this technique is.
Not convinced, I took him up on this and found TFT largely described as ‘fringe’, ‘pseudoscience’ and ‘there is no scientific evidence TFT is effective’.
Unfortunately, I have now lost confidence in many of the other claims he has made in this book.
I recently listened to the Audiobook ‘Alcohol Explained’. I would highly recommend anyone considering giving up alcohol and who wants a truly scientific but understandable explanation about alcohol addiction to listen to that instead.

Distracting content.
It would be a lot better if the audible book was not constantly interrupted by the author constantly reading out his five star reviews for the book. You can make your own mind up about the book without having to listen to what other readers/listeners (all five star reviewers) think of it. Apart from that it is pretty good stuff. compares favourably with This Naked Mind, which is the bible for giving up alcohol by changing your mindset.
