About this listen
It's 17 September 1944. The Allies launch the largest airborne offensive in history, delivering 36,000 troops by parachute and glider to the Dutch/German border. In nine days' time, half of them will be casualties of war. Among their number is Theo Trickey, a young paratrooper so dreadfully injured he is not expected to survive. Under the care of Medical Officer Captain Daniel Garland, Trickey is shipped to Germany as a prisoner of war. As Garland slowly nurses him back to health, he discovers that there's something unusual about Trickey, starting with a chance meeting Trickey had with Erwin Rommel before the war....

Fantastic story and superb story telling.
I will try not to spoil anything for you. But will start of by saying this is a hidden gem! I’ve listened to 100s of Audiobooks and this one blew me away.
If you are looking for a good WW2 Historical Fiction story that is from the perspective of the British and to be more specific, the parachute regiment, then look no further.
The characters are well developed and there is a good amount of action sandwiched between developing plots that gives the story a good pacing. And the story cleverly jumps between two key characters and their own distinct journeys. The narrator was superb and overall the book and the story is so well written, I would be surprised if a series or a film was ever made out of it.
My one regret about this book is that I didn’t find it sooner and the low quantity (not quality) of reviews made me question if this was a decent book and I was blown away. Trust me you will not regret it.

Well written but I wanted more
I enjoyed this book immensely but was genuinely surprised when it ended. I wanted to know more.
The characters are engaged, the narration is great and the scenarios believable. I will listen to this again

Excellent
An excellent book, so well constructed and amazingly genuine. Fantastically narrated, I listened in every spare moment! Thank you for both elements!

Totally Brilliant
So clever the way the narrative keeps you wondering which direction the story will take. The two story lines intertwine and the last words of this first trilogy are so powerfully delivered by John Frost. What made it more personal to me was I met that man who was a hero of mine as I served in 2 Para and was aware of our history so well.
This was made all the more thrilling by the narrative delivered by Peter Noble. I enjoyed this book so much I purchased the 2nd of the trilogy and look forward to following them to occupied France and Bruenval.

Wings of Glory
A brilliant story highlighting the life of people caught up in war, both serving and civilian folk of just not one country. Theo’s pathway through this first of three read is incredible!!!

Great start to the trilogy
At first the book seemed to jump around a bit crossing between the two main characters story’s and timelines, but once I settled in it seemed to flow really well.
Normally I listen to a book a week, switching between authors and or series not often listening to the next book up, then falling back to the next in the series a few weeks later. but I felt compelled to read on with this trilogy and finished all 3 back to back in less than a fortnight.

Brilliant
What an insight to the lives of our soldiers during WW11. The narration by Peter Noble is exemplary, speaking seamlessly from character to character. A story not to be missed.

accurate but not too graphic
The story takes us through the later years of the wardrobe several points of view, giving a new and honest perspective on the events. Well read, with enough action to keep it from being a recitation of events. I was sad when it ended, it was so engaging.
