Summary
The epic battle between humankind and their godlike rulers finally ignites in the masterful follow-up to Age of Myth and Age of Swords.
The alliance of humans and renegade Fhrey is fragile — and about to be tested as never before. Persephone keeps the human clans from turning on one another through her iron will and a compassionate heart. The arrogant Fhrey are barely held in check by their leader, Nyphron, who seeks to advance his own nefarious agenda through a loveless marriage that will result in the betrayal of the person Persephone loves most: Raithe, the God Killer.
As the Fhrey overlords marshal their army and sorcerers to crush the rebellion, old loyalties will be challenged while fresh conspiracies will threaten to undo all that Persephone has accomplished. In the darkest hour, when hope is all but lost, new heroes will rise...but at what terrible cost?
Narrated by: Amanda Forstrom, Bradley Smith, Carolyn Kashner, Chris Genebach, Chris Stinson, Christopher Scheeren, Christopher Walker, Colleen Delany, David Jourdan, Dylan Lynch, Eric Messner, Evan Casey, Jacob Yeh, Ken Jackson, Kimberly Gilbert, Lise Bruneau, Matthew Bassett, Michael Glenn, Michael John Casey, Nanette Savard, Nora Achrati, Peter Holdway, Richard Rohan, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Scott McCormick, Terence Aselford, Thomas Keegan, Tia Shearer, Tim Carlin, Tim Getman, Todd Scofield, Tracy Olivera, Yasmin Tuazon, Zeke Alton

Absolutely Epic.
Damn that was so relentlessly epic. Book three of Legends of the First Empire, Age of War will make you laugh, it'll tear your heart out, and it'll leave you in awe of the intensity of battles and magic that is delivered with absolute devastation in this book. A wonderful read, Age of War feels like an evolution in Micheal J. Sullivan's writing, but he is also like the Grim Reaper scything out favourite characters you love and have grown very fond of, Damn you, Mr Sullivan. The alliance of humans and renegade Fhrey is fragile and about to be tested as never before. War has come to Alon Rhist, the Miralyith have brought the art and their Fhrey army to wipe out the humans and their Fhrey allies once and for all bringing death and destruction in their wake. Can they prevail with their own secret weapon, the first human ever to use the art, may just give them a chance at survival. Lots of twists and turns that will leave you gobsmacked. Better get the tissues out for this one, truly amazing storytelling at its finest. Now for book four Age of Legend. I very highly recommend.....😁💙⚔️💥

Name changes
I love the novel and the story. The plot is awesome. But the change in names really made my skin crawl.

dramatization distracting
The names from the previous books were drastically different in pronunciation, which was confusing. The background noise and sound effects were also distracting.

Exquisite
Haven't had such a grand time with a book in such a long time. It was a true movie in my mind. I cheered and rejoiced with the characters. I saddened and cried with them as well.I went through a roller coaster of emotions. I grew with the characters. They were made real. Thank you.

Fake sorrow from the Koenige for Wraith.
I could barely stand to hear all the excuses that the Koenige gave to Wraith for not love him. He was beneath her and the never was a chance. She was no more than a self absorbed aristocrat. She should have said she was not interest and stop leading him on.. What a waist of time spent on the theme.
