Summary

Feeling jilted and cross, Agatha follows a fortune-teller's advice and rents a cottage in the pretty village of Fryfam, where she hopes good fortune and true love will come chasing after her for a change. Unfortunately, her romantic notions are soon dispelled by the strange goings-on in the village. What are those strange lights in Agatha's back garden? Who is stealing paintings and pottery? And who murdered the local squire?

Agatha's nose for trouble leads her into a maelstrom of jealousy, blackmail and dangerous liaisons - and a murderer who plans to keep irrepressible Agatha permanently in Fryfam - as a resident corpse!

My least favourite of the series, so far

I've read many of the books in this series and enjoyed most of them, but this one irritated me. Sad to say, the most irritating thing was PK's voices of many of the characters. Sir Charles has featured in many stories but the way PK played him in this book made my ears bleed. 'His' voice was high pitched with strangulated vowels... fingers down a blackboard irritating. Same goes for the' church ladies'. Most of them were voiced in the same way as ' Sir Charles', it was difficult at times to figure out who was speaking. Am a bit fed up of this upper crust accent. The characters are becoming a joke. Would be easier to listen to if there were more regional accents.

A bit forgettable

Working my way through all of the Agatha Raisin series and found this book not as entertaining as all the previous ones. I was a bit bored. The final chapter was the best, not because it was the end of the book but because it regained what the rest of the book had been lacking. I laughed out loud!

What happened to Scrabble

Any additional comments?

I can't really review this audio book yet as I only just started it. But whenever her cats are mentioned in the beginning, and the ones she is taking to Norfolk, it is only about Hodge and Boswell. What about Scrabble from the previous book? it doesn't sound right!

Great telling of a classic Agatha Raisin

Penelope Keith is the voice of Agatha Raisin, and this is a great whodunit

Penelope Kietth ruins the books for me

I’ve been working my way through the series, either on Kindle or Audible, but Penelope Kieth ruins the audible books for me. She is awful at accents and makes Agatha an unlikeable main character….

Amusing

As usual a light hearted book, nicely narrated with a story that flows along nicely.

Beaton and Keith. Perfect combination!

Agatha finds a village out of the past with plenty of murder to be found!
