When Daniel announces a plan to install a lavatory in church, the parish is suddenly (and unexpectedly) divided: as lines are drawn in the community, long-buried secrets come dangerously close to destroying the apparent calm of Champton. And then Anthony Bowness is found dead at the back of the church, stabbed in the neck with a pair of secateurs.

Summary
After a lifetime spent in public relations, one-woman dynamo Agatha Raisin struggles to adapt to life in a quiet country village - but she soon finds that there is murder and mayhem aplenty to keep her busy.
Among the cases she has to deal with are a poisoned quiche; a vet who has been ‘put to sleep’; a hanged horticulturist; a murdered rambler and a curate who meets his Maker somewhat sooner than expected. Then there’s the treasure hunt with a rather nasty prize at the end; the secretive salon owner; the husband who is quite definitely ex; the murder on the dancefloor and the fairies at the bottom of the garden.
With all this and handsome neighbour James Lacey to deal with, the ‘Columbo of the Cotswolds’ has her hands full!
This complete radio drama collection includes the following stories: The Quiche of Death, The Vicious Vet, The Potted Gardener, The Walkers of Dembley, The Curious Curate, The Buried Treasure, The Wizard of Evesham, The Murderous Marriage, The Terrible Tourist and The Fairies of Fryfam.
Critic reviews
"Agatha Raisin - sharp, witty, hugely intelligent, unfailingly entertaining, delightfully intolerant and oh so magnificently non-PC." (Anne Robinson)
"If there is one thing better than watching Penelope Keith, it is listening to her." (The Times)

Penelope Keith is far more like the Agatha Raisin in the books than the TV version.

There is only one Agatha Raisin ....
.... and it's Penelope Keith!
Just as I wanted to be Margo Leadbetter as a child, now I think I'm turning into Agatha as an adult. Who cares, so long as it's Penelope Keith. Under it all, Agatha's heart of stone is still a heart and it's in the right place. She tries so hard and it always goes to pot and ends in murder.
Everyone in these dramas is perfectly cast. A fab audio recording.

Penelope Keith forever!
As a fan of the novels and Penelope Keith's audiobooks, I enjoyed this dramatisation thoroughly. The script was well written, lively and humorous, and the actors were all pitch perfect. The stories don't follow the books exactly so are well worth a listen even if you are familiar with them. The ending is everything I could wish for Agatha. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

Comedy and Murder
I love Agatha Raisin as a character both in audiobook format and TV. Penelope Keith really shines as Agatha. Whilst I enjoy the audiobooks, I do much prefer the Radio Drama version. It's always just really fun to get a bit more out of the other characters.
These are really great stories for a long drive/or my guilty pleasure a soak in the tub.
The stories are really well executed when comparing them to the unabridged audiobooks. I just only wish there was more of these out there :(

A new favorite for a major Agatha Christie fan!
I am obsessed with Agatha Christie audiobooks--I own just about every title their is and have listened to each one so often that they're practically memorized. When I found the Agatha Raisin TV series, I loved it so much that I raced over to Audible to see if there were audiobooks. When I found this collection I was thrilled! I couldn't be happier with this audiobook. The dramatisation is so fantastic that I feel like I can SEE what's going on. The stories are a tiny bit different from the TV series, but not enough so that it's annoying. The stories are long enough to be interesting but don't drag on. I know I will listen to this over and over again! Hope there's another one soon!

Penelope Keith is Perfect as Agatha Raisin
I adore Penelope Keith, and she does a wonderful job with M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin.
This BBC Radio Drama Collection is a delightful way to enjoy the Agatha Raisin mysteries. In fact, I find that I prefer this collection to the actual unabridged audiobooks. The main characters (i.e. Roy Silver and James Lacey) are more appealing in this version.

Very fun dramatizations!
These individual radio dramatizations are, of course, much shorter than the entire books on audio due to time constraints... so there are many details and events missing and sometimes changed as it is possible to include everything in this format - though these are still wonderful adaptations and dramatizations of several Agatha Raisin books. Definitely recommend! Excellent performers and the narrator for the full books., actress Penelope Keith, portrays Agatha so this is a seamless transition to enjoying this shorter format. ❤️
That being said, I still recommend the full audiobook books also as they have even more to offer for a more expanded experience of each series installment dramatized in this audio 😊
