I really enjoyed this. Beautiful writing and performance and very thought provoking. A very interesting perspective of a dark story.

Not just brave (accidentally or not) but brilliantly written and performed

I didn’t know Maddie Corman’s real life story before I listened to this and at first I thought it was a really excellent piece of audio drama. But then of course I realised that this is true. And about her. And I listened again, this time with my husband… and she had us laughing and then pausing and shaking our heads moved for her and her children and yes her husband, then swearing (on her behalf) and then laughing again. Truly brilliant. And, yes, brave.

Unbelievably raw!

Shocking, heartbreaking and so sad (for Maddie and her children)
How someone can be so strong after deceit and trauma ripped through their family! She is an inspiration and a great role model!
Really puts life into perspective and how we need to be kind to others… you don’t know what someone is going through!

She was real to herself.

I absolutely devoured this in one sitting!!!

I loved how raw and how human this all was. How human she was. The release of anger and hurt and confusion and tears and so so much more without the blame or shame was so so so authentic to bear witness to.

She came across as someone who was willing to be and feel herself for what was coming up rather than suppressing and compartmentalising. She showed up as a human being who was hurt and put through something really tough and hard - which is really hard to do when we tend to run away and compartmentalise or intellectualise our way out of things.

She was true to her emotions and her feelings. She was real with herself. And I’m really glad I came across this as I’m learning how to be authentic with myself too.

irritating and overly dramatic.

this was hideous after only 2 seconds. maddie narrates this terribly. my god its awful and soo dramatic in a big headed way. it's awful what her husband done and what they go through but it's boring.

Cathartic for the author, but possibly accidentally unwise to share this publicly.

No one could argue that what the author and her family experienced wasn’t truly devastating. It certainly was. I stumbled across this audio book by chance and decided to listen. I had never heard of the author or her husband until this audio. I personally don’t think the author should have published this information. And I think it’s delivered in bad taste. What I do find offensive is how the author uses the word “illegal porn”, when clearly, as far as I’m concerned, the correct terminology is “child abuse.” I wish I could un-listen to this book.

Wow!

I listened to this whilst pottering in my kitchen on a Saturday afternoon when I was waiting for my next credit.
It wasn’t what I was expecting… it was so authentic, Raw and honest… funny in places, sad in others but overall really inspiring.
