Summary

New York Times best-selling author Iyanla Vanzant recounts the last decade of her life and the spiritual lessons learned—from the price of success during her meteoric rise as a TV celebrity on Oprah, the Iyanla TV show (produced by Barbara Walters), to the dissolution of her marriage and her daughter’s 15 months of illness and death on Christmas day.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Iyanla shares why everything we need to learn is reflected in our relationships and explains the strength and wisdom she has gained by supporting others in their journeys to make sense out of the puzzle pieces of their lives.

Truthful heartbreaking and utterly inspiring

This is the first book I have listened to by Iyanla Vanzant and I love her warrior spirit, her ability to grow and heal from past trauma and the love she has for her daughter. Her courage, honesty and story are an inspiration to any woman. Highly recommended

Shocking, heartfelt, funny, introspective

Iyanla Takes you through the journey of her life, leading you to understand why she is so spiritually inclined and gifted. I will re read and re listen to this book for many years to come. It’s a mandatory guide for anyone wanting to understand breaking generational curses from a spiritual perspective

A story of survival

What did you like most about Peace from Broken Pieces?

I have always been a big fan of iyanla, her no nonsense advice, and her uncomplicated way of putting things in perspective . This book is different, you feel her pain, and go thru the many different stages of grief with her. You desperately want to reach out and hug her, tell her everything will be alright. But I needn't having worried, she is a force of nature and has come out the other side wiser and stronger.

What other book might you compare Peace from Broken Pieces to, and why?

The book of job. Loss of al that you have dear , followed by redemption, a steadfast belief in God.

Which character – as performed by Iyanla Vanzant – was your favourite?

She is.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It would be hard not too be affected.

Any additional comments?

A great read for anyone going through loss.

A beautiful way to understand.

Not only is Miss Iyanla a great speaker/motivater and overall person. She goes into the depth of her own soul to describe what she faced and needed to do in order to become whole. This book in my opinion is a must read.

An eye opener

A great but uncomfortable book for me as it heat some home trues. Iyanla welcomed us into her past, and present experiences.
Just when I caught myself criticising some of her delivery; I remembered this book is not fictional; it is her life story.
A really inspirational and comical at times, it did leave me with some questions like:what next? But i guess that is the process of starting my own life journey!
