Summary

It was the ideal marriage of convenience...until they met.

Cassandra DeWitt has seen her husband only once - on their wedding day two years earlier - and this arrangement suits her perfectly. She has no interest in the rude, badly behaved man she married only to secure her inheritance. She certainly has no interest in his ban on her going to London. Why, he’ll never even know she is there.

Until he shows up in London too, and Cassandra finds herself sharing a house with the most infuriating man in England.

Joshua DeWitt has his life exactly how he wants it. He has no need of a wife disrupting everything, especially a wife intent on reforming his behavior. He certainly has no need of a wife who is intolerably amiable, insufferably reasonable...and irresistibly kissable.

As the unlikely couple team up to battle a malicious lawsuit and launch Cassandra’s wayward sister, passion flares between them. Soon the day must come for them to part...but what if one of them wants their marriage to become real?

Hilarious, heartrending, and hot, this standalone Regency romance tells the story of a marriage of convenience between opposites.

Narration was amazing

The story line was unique and well formulated. We could have done without the last tragedy tbh I feel like Joshua has been through enough
Surely some other event could have brought them together in the end but nonetheless, I really enjoyed this book. Definitely worth a listen.

A little bit different

I loved the story, however I wasn't to keen on the narrators voice. Overall the story was fun witty and different.

Lovely story, beautifully performed

Lovely characters and a beautiful performance. Although it was hard to believe a man would ever think or speak like Joshua in those times I was happy to suspend my disbelief as he was such an engaging character. The same was true of Cassandra who did make me laugh out loud.

A book I can listen too many times and still enjoy it as the first time.

I loved how well it are captured the masks and misconceptions we have when we think we know our partner. Love, humor, real and witty.

He's not wicked at all.

Our hero is anything but wicked. I found him an absolute pussy cat - wary, mischievous and occasionally lashing out as all self-respecting felines do.

Wonderful: beautifully written and narrated

I have had this book in my audible library for sometime and I’m so glad I finally got around to listening to it. It’s quite simply one of the best historical romances I have ever read/ listened to. It’s beautifully narrated, with the female narrator able to perform a very credible male character too. I intend to seek out more books by this author. Highly recommended.

Wonderful

Mia Vinci has written a wonderful romance that’s up there with some of my favourite stories by the likes of Kleypas and Balogh. It’s a keeper and I know I’ll be re-reading it. I’ve jumped straight to amazon to buy her next book. Cassandra and Joshua are both endearing likeable characters and their teasing banter is laugh out loud funny. That said the story has it’s poignant moments, Joshua’s visit to the orphanage had me in tears. I’d also like to compliment Kate Reading for her excellent narration. There was none of that irritating, overly arch tone that can sometimes creep into historical romance narration.
